We all like to get into our little routines. Do the things that we’re comfortable with and not take risks.
That goes for all aspects of life really. We don’t take risks often enough. We get into a groove and get comfortable. Shitty job? We stay because it’s what we know. We don’t quit. We stick with status quo.
This is also true with workouts. We tend to stick to what we know. I know I’m guilty of this.
Today, I went out of my comfort zone. I tried a few new ab workouts. I’m bad at them. Really bad. But what aren’t we bad at the first time? Not much. It takes time, perseverance, and dedication to be about to do anything correctly. We must train and try again and again until it’s correct.
These new ab workouts are hard, but you feel them. Is takes you Entire Core to be able to do then correctly. The first is the plank Twist.
It’s just what it sounds like. You get into a plank stance and twist side to side. The entire core is engaged and it takes concentration to move smoothly from one side to the other without your feet slipping and keeping everything tight.
I’m so bad at these.
The second I tried are Russian twists. Oh man. These. I did a modified version with my feet on the floor. But how they work, you sit on your tush with feet slightly off the floor and somewhat reclined (no support) while holding a medicine ball and you twist back and forth. It’s intense.
Please ignore the gut…. Reason why I’m working out…
But, as with everything, things take time. They take dedication. They take practice.
Remember…
Don’t quit, DO IT!
