Tags: heart promise
According to the data, it has been observed that in the year 2017 more than 17 million people died from various Heart related illness, which is more than that of people who are dying from HIV, malaria and cancer. These numbers are on hike as there is lack of awareness and information among the people. Therefore looking after these numbers, in the year 2000 the World Heart Federation launched an annual event named as World Heart Day to be celebrated on 29th September all across the globe.
Every year the day is followed by a specific theme and this year the theme for the day is “My Heart, Your Heart” which will represent a Promise to us, the people we care about and all the individuals around the world to take certain steps in reducing our risk to various type of Cardiovascular diseases.
The main aim of the day is to enhance the global heart health by encouraging people to adapt and bring out new changes in their sedentary lifestyle while gaining more knowledge and information about various methods to be good to the our heart. The World Health Organization has setup a target to reduce non-communicable disease mortality rate by 2025 by reducing the premature deaths caused because of cardiovascular diseases.

Impact of Cardiovascular Disease:
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of deaths and disability all across the country. On an average about 31% of the total population dies because of cardio vascular disease. Apart from death it is one of the leading causes of disability too. It has been observed that heart attack kills one out of every 10 Indians and alarmingly 900 Indians less than 30 years of age are dying every day because of heart attack.
Heart disease is a growing problem which requires our immediate attention and more focus on the prevention method.
A promise:
On this World Heart Day let’s make a simple promise….. For MY HEART, for YOUR HEART, for ALL OUR HEARTS. It’s a promise for every individual to cook and eat more healthily, to do more exercise and encourage your children to be more active, to say no to smoking and help your loved ones to stop. A promise for healthcare professionals to save more lives. A promise for politicians to implement an NCD action plan.
World Heart Day plays an important role in changing all the above mentioned data. The day serves the global platform to raise awareness and encourage individuals, families, communities and governments to take valid and immediate action. Together we all have the power to decrease down the burden of, and premature deaths because of various cardiovascular diseases and helping people everywhere to live longer, better and heart-healthy lives.
"You can never beat a healthy heart, so on this World Heart Day let’s make a promise for “My Heart, Your Heart.” A promise to eat healthy, a promise to exercise regularly, a promise to quit smoking and a promise to keep your and my heart healthy!"
