Star Trek Fleet Command Guide: Tips & Tricks for Dummies

Welcome to the dummies guide on how to get stronger in Star Trek Fleet Command. Here are some tips and tricks on how to progress further into the game, increasing your ship’s overall strength and Upgrading your buildings fast in the game.

Build and upgrade your buildings

Once you are done with the tutorial, always build and upgrade as many different types of buildings as possible. There are 2 types of sections, both ‘Interior’ and ‘Exterior’ where you can build and upgrade buildings. The more buildings you have built or upgrade the higher your overall strength. Also, upgrade your Operations building as much as possible. The higher the level of your Operations building, the higher your other buildings can be upgraded in terms of level. You will require different resources in order to build or upgrade a building. There are only 3 types of resources in this game:

  • Parsteel – Used to build station buildings
  • Tritanium – Used to build ship hulls and bulkheads
  • Dilithium – Used to build buildings and ships. Also used for Research

Building or upgrading a building takes an amount of time before the building has successfully been built or upgraded. The higher the level of the building, the longer it takes to successfully upgrade a building. To speed up the upgrading or building process, you can use those ‘Speed Up’ items to reduce the time taken to built or upgrade. You can use Latinum to instantly finish building or upgrading if you want as long as you have enough Latinum to do so. The higher the building level, the longer it will take to finish upgrading to its next level and the more resources required. One cool tip is that if the building takes less than 5 minutes to finish building/upgrading, tap on the green ‘>>’ button to instantly finish building or upgrade a building without using any ‘Speed Up’ item or Latinum.

List of buildings – part 1

Here are some of the buildings that you can build or upgrade:

  • Operations – Your HQ. Upgrading your Operations not only unlocks new buildings but also increases weapon damage bonus.
  • Market – Allows the trade of goods with other Alliance members.
  • Covert Think Tank – Unlocks the Faction Tech Research facility.
  • Defense Technologies – Unlocks the Defense Tech Research facility. Upgrading your Defense Technologies increases defense platform damage bonus.
  • Science Lab – Unlocks the Shield Tech Research facility. Upgrading your Science Lab increases shield deflection bonus and explorer shield health bonus.
  • Shield Generator – Provides protection for your stations from incoming enemies. Upgrading your Shield Generator will increase the shield’s HP.
  • Academy – Here is where your Officers stay when they are not assigned. Upgrading your Academy will increase Officer stats bonus.
  • Engine Technology Lab – Unlocks the Engine Tech Research facility. Upgrading your Engine Technology Lab increases dodge bonus and interceptor shield health bonus.
  • Foundry – Unlocks the Armor Tech Research facility. Upgrading your Foundry increases armor bonus and battleships shield health bonus.
  • Sensor Station – Shows information on enemy ships moving towards your territory. The higher the Recon Center level, the more warning time the Sensor Station will show.
  • Armory – Unlocks the Weapons Tech Research facility. Upgrading the Armory increases critical hit chance bonus and critical hit damage bonus.

List of buildings – part 2

  • Astronautics Studio – New ship hulls can be researched and unlocked here before becoming available in the Shipyard.  Upgrading the Astronautics Studio increases the research cost efficiency.
  • R&D Department – This is where you can research different technologies for Combat, Station, and Galaxy like battle tactics, Tritanium fusion, repair diagnostics and many more. Researching a technology requires an amount of time and you can use ‘Speed Up’ items to speed up the researching process. You can also upgrade your Academy to unlock new technologies for you to research.
  • Ship Hangar – This is where extra ships are stored when they are not currently used in the active fleet. You can upgrade the Ship Hangar to increase the ship inventory slots and hull health bonus.
  • Shipyard – This is where you can build new ships if you have enough ship blueprints. Upgrading your Shipyard increases ship construction speed and tier up speed.
  • Parsteel/Tritanium/Dilithium Warehouse – Stores all collected Parsteel/Tritanium/Dilithium. Upgrading the Parsteel/Tritanium/Dilithium Warehouse increases its capacity.
  • Parsteel/Tritanium/Dilithium Vault – Protects the stored Parsteel/Tritanium/Dilithium from enemy attacks. Upgrading the Parsteel/Tritanium/Dilithium Vault increases the number of protected Parsteel.
  • Tritanium/Parsteel/Dilithium Generator – Produces Parsteel/Tritanium/Dilithium. Upgrading the Parsteel/Tritanium/Dilithium increases the amount of Parsteel/Tritanium/Dilithium that is produced.
  • Drydock (Exterior) – This is where you can assign your ships, managed and upgraded by Ship Management. Upgrading the Drydock increases repair speed bonus and repair cost efficiency.
  • Defense Platform (Exterior) – Protects your station from incoming enemy attacks. Upgrading the Defense Platform will increase its defense power.

Complete all missions and daily goals

I highly recommend completing all the daily goals first because of 2 reasons (Tap the ‘!’ from the main menu(System)). The daily goals will reset every 24 hours and you will be rewarded with tons of resources and Latinum if you complete all of them. To complete the missions, you can tap on any of the mission then tap ‘Locate’ (Seems to work only for the building missions). The game will bring you to that location for you to complete.

While you are doing the main story mission (The first one), there is a chance you will be given 2 choices and you have to select either 1 of them to progress through the mission. Each choice will give different amounts of rewards so I advise you to tap the ‘Rewards’ button first to see the rewards before making a choice.

How do I attack an enemy ship?

So to attack an enemy ship, look for any of the ‘Rigellian Destroyer’ ships (Words colored in red) and tap ‘Attack’. But before attacking an enemy ship, I suggest tapping the ‘Scan’ button first. This is where the game will show the enemy’s overall strength and your ship’s overall strength. Make sure that your ship’s overall strength is above the enemy’s overall strength before attacking to ensure victory.

One thing to take note is that each ‘Rigellian Destroyer has a number beside it. What it means it shows their current level. Basically the higher the level, the more strength the enemy ship has. Another thing to take note is that your ship will take damage after the battle (Regardless of victory or defeat). One cool tip I found is that you can actually zoom in and out of the map by pinching or spreading (unpinch) two fingers together or apart for a better view if you want.

Always check your ship’s HP and repair your ships

If you look at the bottom of your screen (The drydock’s section), you will see that your ship has two bars. The blue one is the shield and the white one is your ship’s HP. To restore your ship’s HP, you will have to repair it by moving your ship back to your main station (Tap on your main station and tap ‘Recall’). Then tap your ship and tap ‘Repair’. Similar to buildings, repairing your ship will take some time to complete (Depending on your ship’s overall strength and HP).

Explore the Galaxy

You can access the Galaxy by tapping ‘Galaxy’ (Bottom right of the screen) from the main menu. This is where you will see different planets for ships to explore. I highly recommend exploring each and every one of the planets in the Galaxy. Each planet has a number beside it which basically means the average level of enemy ships that you will discover. For example, the Takik (4) planet will contain level 3-5 enemy ships.

To move to another planet, tap on the planet that you wish to go, tap ‘Set Course’ (After that you will have to wait for your ship to land based on the distance), then tap ‘View System’. As you explore the new planet, you will notice that some of the locations have a ‘!’ symbol on it. This is where you can move your ship to that location and accept new missions for more rewards.

How do I assign my Officers?

There are 2 types of slots that an Officer can be assigned to: Bridge officers and Crew officers (Tap your ship->Manage->Assign Officers). The Captain will be at the middle slot of the Bridge which will determine the Maneuver and Synergy group. Bridge officers will be able to use their Active Abilities in battle and mining while Crew officers only help increase stat bonus for attack, defense and HP. Each officer will contain a type of synergy group (Located at the top right side of the officer’s icon).

To assign your Officers, tap on any of the officers at the bottom of the screen and tap on any of the Bridge Officer or Crew Officer slots above. Take note that officers from the same synergy group will increase the captain’s maneuver skill.

Join an Alliance

If you have not done so, I would suggest joining an Alliance (Guild) as soon as you can. You can unlock some of the Alliance features such as:

  • Alliance Store – You can use your Alliance credits to open chests for items like resources, XP cubes and officer shards. Your Alliance members will obtain Alliance rewards from opening chests.
  • Alliance Contribution – This is where you can choose to donate either Parsteel, Tritanium or Latinum for AP to increase you Alliance’s level. The higher the Alliance level, the more Alliance members that you can recruit and increases the Help limit.
  • Help – You can assist other Alliance members to speed up their building, research and upgrading duration. I suggest helping your Alliance members so that they will also help you as well.

Strengthen your officers and ships

There are 2 main ways to strengthen your officers to increase your ship’s overall strength:

  • Level up your Officers – You can gain Officer XP either by using your officers in battle or use Officer XP cubes. Officer XP cubes can be obtained from completing missions, daily goals and events.
  • Promote – You will need the required amount of Officer shards in order to promote. Successful promotion increases your officer max level cap by 5, increases its strength and improve its officer ability. Officer shards can be obtained from completing missions, daily goals and events.

As for ships, there are 2 main ways:

  • Leveling up your ships –  You will need to use Ship XP cubes in order to level up your ship. Leveling up increases all ship stats and ability. Ship XP cubes can be obtained from completing daily goals and events.
  • Upgrading your ship’s components – Each ship component will require Explorer parts in order to upgrade. Once all your components are upgraded, you can increase your tier for a huge strength boost. Explorer parts can be obtained from defeating enemy ships.

How do I obtain better officers?

If you need high rarity officers like the rare and epic ones, you can open the chests from the premium recruit (Main Menu->Officer->Recruit) using premium recruit tokens. Premium recruit tokens can be obtained from completing daily goals and events. If you are going P2W (Pay 2 Win), focus on purchasing the ‘Officer Pack’ from the Offers section where you can get 800 premium recruit tokens instantly.

You can also open the chests from the ultra recruit which only gives you rare and epic officer shards but you will need ultra recruit tokens which can be obtained only from events.

Don’t do the Factions just yet

I advise not to discover the Factions first until you are about level 20 and above. This is because the enemy ships are very high leveled which is difficult for you to win in the early stages of the game. But once you are prepared, do the faction reputation missions which you can gain Romulan credits which can be used to open chests for different items including ship blueprints, raw materials and more.

Complete the Event missions and open chests

I also suggest doing the Event missions especially the daily ones, where you obtain different resources, officer shards, and XP cubes. Even if you not very active in this game, I recommend to at least claim the free chests for rewards. There are 3 free chests that you can claim:

  • 10 min free chest
  • 4-hour free chest
  • 24-hour free chest

Once you claim a chest, the timer will reset and you will have to wait until it is available for collection.

If you are new to this game, you can download this game on either IOS or Android.
