How to check your gear before you fish

It happens to the best of us, We get there all excited to Fish, And we do not check our line for knots or breaks. It hurts when a fish big fish just snaps the line like a joke! So i will teach you a few tricks to so you will land more Big fish!

Line. First off I have to say if you are going for big fish and know there are big fish  there! . Do not use the old line off that rod in your rafters . Not only will you knot it up like a bugger, And break the fish off. You will lose a nice fly/rig. Witch will cost ya a bit of the green stuff. I use Rio leader have for years now I have used other lines. Maxima Leader etc.. But i have had success with this so that’s what i use till it proves me wrong!

Knots. People might not think this but i know it works well. Taper your leader!!
And learn knots it will save you so much money, Plus you will be a better fisherman all around 100%. Do not just put a straight 12lb leader and tie a fly on it. Myself fishing in Canada for big fish I do a 12LB leader to a 8LB to 6LB. This way the fish do not see a big thick ripple on the top water. If you drag your line in the water with taper line you will not see the end of the line . So the chances of the fish seeing it decrease.Remember Know Your Knots for the fishing gear you have because you will need them or someone you fish will need them!.

Helpful gear. I see many guys/girls in the river with a lot of stuff on them. Some are great to have some are not. The best thing’s I carry on me are Nail clippers. and Forceps. The Nail clippers is for clipping the little knot you tried chewing off for 15 minutes, Forceps (with curve at the end) are for getting the deep embedded hook out of the face of the fish with as little damage as possible.

Remember you can’t catch fish if you are not in the water. Good luck Fishing.
