Why it’s O.K to not know everything

You know that feeling you get before you go on a big trip. You make a list of everything that you need – and some even that you don’t-  you Pack those things, you check the list twice, and even then you still feel like your missing/ forgetting something?

Well, that exact feeling right there, is the feeling I have with school.

Sure everybody would love to know everything about their particular major and therefore become the best. I was the same. I used to panic whenever a new topic came around that I didn’t know anything about. Or that panicy moment when somebody mentions something that they know, and you don’t, you begin to ask the endless questions…

“Do I need to know this?”

“Why don’t I already know this?”

“Why am I even doing this, I don’t know anything!?”

Right then and there, I knew I need to change my outlook and change it fast. Cause with that attitude I for sure would not get anywhere, anytime soon.

It was hard, don’t get me wrong. But, once I embraced the fact that I didn’t have to be the smartest in the room, it all just feel into place.

I learned that I still can make lists of things that I need to know, want to know, and should know. I still can check off that list as I pack the new knowledge away into my brain. I still sometimes feel like I’m missing or forgetting something. But I know now that I am stronger than I think. I just need to take a breath, and take it one step at a time.

Keep fighting, keep learning, and never feel like you can’t do it!
