Logical Fallacies in Writing

If you can spot Logical Fallacies in an argument, you have mind control in the bag.

Fallacies are faulty reasoning in assertions, categorized into groups of formal, informal and conditional Fallacies.

Most discussions in person and online are filled with examples of these arguments. Some people use fallacies deliberately, often for the purpose of propaganda or to win support for their ideas. Others are not even aware that their reasoning is faulty. This happens when people do not spend time to examine or question their convictions.

Five Ways to Spot Invalid Arguments in Writing is a selection of fallacies I usually encounter in essays, articles, and manuscripts when editing. I have highlighted how to identify them in the slideshare infographic below. Click the arrows on the right to view the presentation in full screen.
