Problem With Wireless Adapter Or Access Point – How To Fix It?

Many Windows 10 users usually access the Internet using the Wireless Adapter. However in case if you don’t configure wireless adapter properly, it can cause issues. One of the common problems that Windows 10 users reported is problem with wireless adapter or access point error, so in this guide, I am going to show you how to resolve it.

Method 1: Delete your wireless profile

According to users, your Wi-Fi configuration profile might be corrupted, and that can cause Problem with wireless adapter or access point and some other errors to occur. In order to resolve this problem, I suggest you should delete the wireless profile. To do that, follow these steps:

Step 1. First, start a Command Prompt as an Administrator by pressing Windows Key + X to open Power User Menu then click Command Prompt (Admin).
Step 2. When Command Prompt starts, type netsh wlan delete profile name=”YourWirelessProfileName” and press Enter to execute.

Note: YourWirelessProfileName is the name of your wireless network.

Step 3. Then you reconnect and reconfigure the network to resolve problem with wireless adapter or access point.

Method 2: Update Wireless Network Adapter Driver

If you are facing these types of problems, I recommended you update the driver for wireless network adapter. To do that, follow the steps below:

Step 1. First, open Device Manager by pressing Windows Key + X and click Device Manager from the list.
Step 2. When Device Manager pops up, expand category Network adapters.
Step 3. Right-click on the network device name, and then click Driver Update Software…
Step 4. Then you select Search automatically for updated driver software. If Windows can’t look for a new driver, you can visit your network adapter manufacturer’s website, locate your device and download and install the latest drivers for it.

Note: Because your computer has no internet connection, use a different computer to download the wireless network adapter driver, then copy it to a USB flash drive.

Method 3: Change Your WiFi Network’s Name and Password

In some cases, you can resolve this problem by changing your Wifi name and password. This is an easy procedure, but if you don’t know how to do it, you could check here.

Method 4: Disable Firewall and third-party antivirus software

Firewall and third-party antivirus software are important for your online safety, security and privacy, but unfortunately they can interfere with your wifi connection and cause Problem with wireless adapter or access point error. Hence, if your computer has recently installed a third-party firewall or antivirus programs then you need to temporarily disable or uninstall them.

Method 5: Refresh Your IP Address

In order to resolve problem with wireless adapter or access point, you can use Command Prompt to release and renew IP address. To do that, you follow these steps below:

Step 1. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
Step 2. In the Command Prompt window, type the following lines:

netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns

Step 3. Lastly, you restart your system and see if the problem is resolved.

Method 6: Resetting Network Adapter

According to users, you can fix this error by resetting your Network Adapter. To do that, follow these steps:

Step 1. Start a Command Prompt as an Administrator.
Step 2. When Command Prompt starts, you type “netsh winsock reset” and then press Enter to execute.
Step 3. Now you wait for the Command Prompt to run through the reset. When it’s complete, you’ll see the message “Winsock reset completed successfully“.
Step 4. Lastly, restart your computer and check if the problem is fixed.

Method 7: Make sure that your wireless adapter is enabled

If your wireless adapter is disabled and that can cause problem with wireless adapter or access point. In some cases after installing some third-party programs, your wireless adapter is disabled. So to fix this problem, you make sure that your wireless adapter is enabled. You can verify this by following these steps:

Step 1. Go to Device Manager in Windows 10.
Step 2. Then find your wireless adapter and right click it and select Properties.
Step 3. Next, switch to Driver tab and locate Enable button. If the Enable button can’t be found, it means that your wireless adapter is enabled and working.
