If over time you’ve set-up a number of Facebook business pages and you’re looking to consolidate them, there’s a fairly easy way to do it. However, it’s not a quick process. Merging Facebook pages can take up to a week to be completed. Particularly if the two Facebook business pages are not similar in theme or industry. We’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to merge facebook pages that can be completed in less than 30 minutes.

Change the Profile Picture & Header Image.
Update the About Us section.
Submit a request to change the name of the page you want to merge.
Merging Facebook pages.

Note: For this article, we’re assuming that the pages are not similar in theme or industry (which is more difficult). However, the steps still apply if the pages are similar. The method below can be used for more than 2 pages, however, you can only merge Facebook page A with Facebook page B. You can’t merge multiple Facebook pages at the same time. Each merge request has to be completed in full and submitted separately.

1. Change the Profile Picture & Header Image.

The first thing to do is to ensure that each of your Facebook business pages has the same profile picture and header image. Ultimately, you will be deleting one of them, so it’s important to ensure that when Facebook receive the merge request that the pages are similar in terms of what they are about.

Open up both of your pages and review the images.

Download the profile image and header image from Page A and upload them into Page B.

2. Change the About Us Section.

Now that the images are in place, you need to alter the “About Us” section so that the information is exactly the same on both pages. This is a case of simply copying and pasting the information from one page to the next. Make sure that you include all information and fill in all fields that are populated. Don’t change the Name or User Name yet (red boxes). That’s completed after the rest of the information is updated.

3. Change the Name of the Page You Want To Merge.

Now that you have all of the information and images exactly the same as the page you want to keep, it’s time to go through a Change Name request with Facebook. Click on “Edit” beside “Name” in the About Us section. Copy the name from the page you want to keep exactly and then add a “2” after it. e.g. JacksAdvice.com & JacksAdvice.com 2

Click “Continue” and then on the following screen confirm the request by clicking on “Request Change“. Facebook state that this can take up to 3 days, but I’ve found that it’s generally completed within a couple of hours.

Note: Once the Change Name request has been approved, you’ll now have to wait 7 days to submit a Merge Facebook Page request. If you try to submit it before then, Facebook will reject it.

4. Submit a Merge Facebook Page request

This is a very straightforward process to follow once the 7 days have elapsed from the name change approval.

Go to Settings at the top of your page
Click on “General”
Scroll down to “Merge Pages”
Click on “Merge Duplicate Page”
Enter your Facebook password if prompted to do so
Select the two Facebook pages to merge
Click continue
Choose the page that you want to keep
Confirm

Once the request is submitted, it will be reviewed manually by Facebook to ensure that the details on both pages match as described above and that there are no discrepancies. If all the details are correct, it should take no longer than a few hours for the request to be approved and the pages to be merged.

Note: You will lose all posts, comments and engagement from the page you are merging. However, you will keep the content on the original page you are keeping.
