Ibn battuta And Ibn Battuta mall Dubai an Insight

Being a traveler with the same zest to see the world and who believes traveling alone rather being in the company of a fellow traveler or a caravan I was inspired and attracted by the famous personality which history doesn’t talk much about Ibn Battuta

His famous words bring smile and tears both to the eyes as nobody can understand the words of a traveler other than a person whose life has been a reflection of a traveler who went through the same feelings and similar instances in life!

I set out alone, having neither fellow-traveller in whose companionship I might find cheer, nor caravan whose part I might join, but swayed by an overmastering impulse within me and a desire long-cherished in my bosom to visit these illustrious sanctuaries. So I braced my resolution to quit my dear ones, female and male and forsook my home as birds forsake their nests. My parents being yet in the bonds of life, it weighed sorely upon me to part from them, and both they and I were afflicted with sorrow at this separation.

Yes i can feel them and I can understand these words coming from the greatest traveller that history has forgotten but yet lives in the heart of the lovers of places who doesn’t mind choosing a life which looks glamorous and fun but deep inside a soul lonelier than the moon resides which shines for the universe but absorbing darkness isn’t easy as it looks

Ibn Battuta’s life can be studied and researched from the autobiographical which records that he was of Berber descent, born into a family of Islamic legal scholars in Tangier, Morocco, on 25 February 1304, during the reign of the Marinid dynasty. He claimed descent from a Berber tribe known as the Lawata. As a young man, he would have studied at a Sunni Maliki madh’hab (Islamic jurisprudence school), the dominant form of education in North Africa at that time.

Ibn battuta was an extensive traveler and has traveled to the most prominent places that history talk about and places which the young travelers like me would love to add as their next beautiful destination on the list his journey began at the age of 21 he set off to Mecca the holy place of Muslims I think he was the luckiest traveller in history as the journey began with the most blessed land of Prophet Muhammad and this journey continued for twenty-four years !

Well this brings a smile on the face thinking about the cultures and beauty this great personality Ibn battuta must have experienced and seen and one thing that inspires me more is he never used a journal or book to write his experience as what he saw was all in his eyes and his memory was the only book that could be read to know every think about ibn Battuta

His 24 years journey included travel to
Iraq and Persia
Arabia
Somalia
Swahili coast
Anatolia
Central Asia
South Asia
South-east Asia
Spain And North Africa
Mali And Timbuktu

These famous quotes by Ibn Batuta are inspiring enough to continue the voyage

“Traveling—it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”

“traveling – it gives you home in thousand strange places, then leaves you a stranger in your own land.”

“Who lives sees, but who travels sees more.”
― Ibn Battuta

“The wind then became calmed in some degree: when, after sun-rise, we perceived that the mountain we had seen was in the air, and that we could see light between it and the sea. I was much astonished at this: but, seeing the sailors in the utmost perturbation, and bidding farewell to one another, I said, Pray what is the matter? They said, What we supposed to be a mountain, is really a Rokh,1 and if he sees us, we shall assuredly perish, there being now between us and him a distance of ten miles only. But God, in his goodness, gave us a good wind, and we steered our course in a direction from him, so that we saw no more of him; nor had we any knowledge of the particulars of his shape.

” I have indeed—praise be to God—attained my desire in this world, which was to travel through the Earth, and I have attained this honor, which no ordinary person has attained.

Well, words are not enough to describe Ibn battuta but it gives happiness to see what he has left behind as his legacy.
