Beg for Bay: How to get Recycling Receptacles at Home, School, & Work

Welcome to Bay Disposal’s blog, where we bring you helpful information and resources about living the green lifestyle. We all share this planet, so we are all responsible for keeping it clean.

Let’s learn!

How to Get Recycling At Home

When dealing with a bottom-line businessman such as a landlord, property manager, or homeowner’s association, it’s important to know your facts. Do your research and make a list of potential benefits of adding a Recycling program to your neighborhood, apartment complex, or community. For example, it becomes an instant amenity for prospective tenants or buyers; may allow for fewer trash pickups and therefore lower costs; and sometimes glass, aluminum, and other recyclables can even be sold for reuse.

How to Get Recycling at Work

Again, it’s always good to know your facts when dealing with administrative officials and detail-oriented number-crunchers. Many younger job seekers consider recycling a must-have at their place of work, and your company may be able to sell some waste for repurposing.

How to Get recycling at School

Teachers, principals, and superintendents love to see extracurricular effort. Do your homework and learn all about how recycling can benefit a School, university, or college. What better lessons to impart than responsible waste disposal and ecological consciousness? Students and parents will learn the value of caring for our environment, as well as the practical daily how-tos.

Take the next steps

Once you’re informed and confident, take your information to your peers, be they neighbors, coworkers, or classmates. Inform and educate them about the benefits and impact a recycling program could have on your community. Get everyone to sign a petition, and take it to the decision makers (be they landlords, managers, or principals).

Be prepared to argue your case. Don’t be disappointed if things don’t work out right away. Change doesn’t always happen quickly, but with enough time, effort, heart, and sometimes persistence, we can make progress.

Fight on, Eco-Superheroes. Let’s save the world!
