Recycling Resolutions

Happy New Year, Hampton Roads!

It’s been a whirlwind year, and we’ve covered a lot of important topics in our blog. Now Bay Disposal is here to round out the year with some Recycling Resolutions for you to try out.

Three, two, one, cheers!

  1. Pick up one of those nifty cloth shopping bags, and bring it with you when you shop – whether it be for groceries, clothing, or anything else. It’s easier than the hard baskets to carry, and some stores (like Whole Foods) offer you a small credit to keep or donate for being environmentally conscious.
  2. If you’re a student, an office worker, or someone who jots down a lot of notes, resolve to use electronic means of note-taking in 2018. Save paper, save the world!
  3. The future is here, and it’s really past time to make the switch: trade in your old incandescent light bulbs for long-lasting, energy-saving LEDs instead.
  4. Shop secondhand whenever possible! Thrift stores often have a wide variety of clothing, appliances, toys, and more, and much of it is like new.
  5. When you’ve outgrown or replaced an article of clothing, an appliance, or a toy, donate it to a thrift store or charity! Your generosity could make someone’s 2018.
  6. Use public transportation whenever possible, or walk, bike, carpool, etc.
  7. Pick up a glass, metal, ceramic, or even plastic to-go bottle or cup, to use for water, tea, coffee, smoothies, or any other beverage you like to drink on the move.
  8. Go paperless – most companies offer e-billing options these days, so you can opt out of all that junk mail that just gets thrown away (or recycled, right?)
  9. Unplug chargers, appliances, etc. when leaving for the day, and especially when leaving for extended periods of time (like a vacation).
  10. Recycle! Bay Disposal is here to help with that, and we hope to see your blue bins out on the sidewalk in 2018.

Thanks for reading, and we hope you have an amazing new year’s celebration, and an even better 2018!
