One the U.K’s consistently best-selling cars, the Vauxhall Corsa supermini is set to be available as a pure Electric car, all as part of the brands profitability push, PACE!, announced today.

The Opel/Vauxhall brand recently joined the Peugeot Citroen PSA Group opening up opportunities to share platforms and save development and production costs.

Having full access to Groupe PSA technologies, Opel/Vauxhall aims to become a European CO2 leader.

By 2024, all European passenger carlines will be electrified – offering a pure battery electric propulsion or plug-in hybrid version alongside more efficient internal combustion engines.

By 2020, Opel/Vauxhall claims it will have four electrified carlines on the market, including the plug-in hybrid variant of Grandland X SUV and the next generation Corsa as a fully electric vehicle due in 2019.

The current the compact end of EV market is catered for by Renault’s ZOE and the Smart range, with a new truly mainstream model greatly needed. With Vauxhall’s competitive pricing, vast dealer network and attractive offers the Pure Electric Corsa could well be it.
