Nissan teases new LEAF saying “Amazing things are worth waiting for”

The arrival of the much anticipated Nissan Leaf electric car has been confirmed for September this year. So far, all we have seen are heavily camouflaged test mules, seemingly a mixture of the current LEAF and a  front end similar to that the new Micra, the latest incarnation of their supermini.

Nissan traditionally never comment on product developments.  However, they recognise the importance of the LEAF and the demand for information about the new model from current owners, who are looking to upgrade.

Today, they teased via Twitter a glimpse of the new car’s headlight showing the previous long bulbous lights have gone, to be replaced with sleek lines, stating “Amazing things are worth waiting for”.

The Nissan LEAF launched 2010 and has sold 250,000 cars worldwide. With looks that only a mother to could love, Nissan is expected to address this in the all new model.  The latest Micra highlights a new design language for the Japanese brand, something which is expected to be carried through to the LEAF.

New Micra is a departure from the previous boring styling
The new LEAF is set to deliver over 200 miles of range and will be equipped with Nissan’s ProPilot Autonomous driving technology. Enabling what Nissan describe as ‘autonomous drive functionality for single-lane highway driving’ as the brand aims to improve road safety, lower emissions and tackle congestion as part of its “Intelligent Mobility” programme.
