When the Republican's seized control of the White House and both houses of Congress in the last election, the public expected things to be done. Conservatives were thrilled that they could now accomplish many things they have wanted to do for years -- and others were fearful of the same thing.

But after seven months, the view of the public has changed. They have watched the incompetence of the ruling Republican government, and now have no confidence that anything significant will be accomplished this year. That's the view of 58% of Americans -- and majorities of both genders, all age groups, and both whites and nonwhites agree with that assessment.
