Strike Industries New Improved Glock Flat Trigger

Strike Industries has just released their new Improved Flat Trigger for Glock pistols. The Improved Flat Trigger is compatible with most models from Generation 1-4. So far the newest Gen 5 models are not compatible, but look for that to change in the future. Made from billeted aluminum, the Improved Flat Trigger is specifically designed to enhance the ergonomics and geometry of the Glock trigger pull.

Strike Industries has been one of the most innovative and progressive firearms accessories companies over the last several years, producing dozens of new components to enhance the overall shooter experience. The Improved Glock Flat Trigger will offer shooters the same trigger safety as OEM Glock triggers, but with the flat face design. In addition, shooters can customize their pistols from four available colors.

Strike Industries claims their Improved Glock Flat Trigger improves ergonomics and trigger pull.

Strike Industries Improved Glock Flat Trigger

For many professional shooters the first and most important feature of a firearm is the trigger. The design of the trigger, the weight of the trigger pull, whether there is a trigger safety lever or not, and the general smoothness of the trigger pull are all extremely important features. These features also transfer into the law enforcement community, where each trigger pull carries with it a life or death decision, and the weight of millions of dollars in liability.

The Strike Industries Improved Glock Flat Trigger will come with all the necessary components to switch out the original Glock trigger. However, this is only a trigger replacement. The S.I. components include the trigger and its shoe, and the springs and pins necessary to properly mount the S.I. Improved Glock Trigger into your Glock pistol. Shooters will still use their original trigger bar, and trigger housing mechanism to complete the overall trigger works. This means the new S.I. Improved Glock Flat Trigger does not change trigger pull weight (5.0 pounds standard), and is simply meant to provide an “enhanced” trigger feel, pull, and brake.

The S.I. Improved Glock Flat Trigger is made from machined aircraft-grade aluminum billet.

S.I. Improved Glock Trigger Features

  • Aircraft-grade aluminum (6061) construction
  • Flat trigger face
  • Compatible with pre-travel modification
  • Enhanced trigger geometry
  • Anodized finish for customization
  • Does not reduce trigger pull weight (5.0 pounds for standard Glock triggers)
  • Includes the following components:
    • (1) Aluminum trigger shoe
    • (1) Trigger safety
    • (2) Trigger pin set screws
    • (1) Trigger safety return spring.

Using solid aircraft-grade aluminum billet construction, machined to exact specifications, Strike Industries ensures their Improved Glock Trigger provides the highest quality of construction, will not flex, and will endure the harshest of shooting conditions. The company claims their Improved Glock Trigger will provide shooters a crisper feedback and better consistency with first and follow-up shots.

The S.I. Improved Glock Flat Trigger fits nicely in the Glock pistol frame.

Strike Industries also claims their Improved Glock Flat Trigger will “enhance the aesthetics, feel, and control” of the Glock pistol through improving the geometry of the trigger to optimize finger placement and trigger breaking angle. That is a very fancy way of saying when you pull the trigger you get a better feel and trigger break. The S.I. Improved Glock Trigger only comes with the trigger and its housing (shoe). Shooters will still use the OEM trigger bar and trigger bar housing mechanism from their factory Glock pistol.

Strike Industries also highly recommends using the provided Loc-Tite when transitioning and mounting their Improved Glock Flat Trigger to the original Glock pistol parts.

Final Thoughts

The new Strike Industries Improved Glock Flat Trigger offers a unique option for Glock pistol shooters. Flat triggers are not new, and have been available on many firearms for decades. However, the most traditional form of trigger involves a curved face of some magnitude designed to fit the curvature of the shooter’s finger. On the other hand, many shooters prefer a flat trigger surface, believing the flat face will reduce trigger pull errors and produce a more consistent trigger pull. The argument is a flat trigger face is flat no matter where the shooter’s finger fall upon its face, where a curved trigger could theoretically be pulled differently depending upon where the shooter’s finger falls.

A final, and very critical consideration for any law enforcement officers, is whether your agency will take on the potential liability for having after-market products added to their firearms. This is particularly true for agencies that provide their officers with the firearm. Significant testing and evaluation would need to be conducted, documented, and followed-up during firearm training on a consistent basis to cover any legal concerns from adding the Improved Glock Flat Trigger to department issued Glock pistols.

Officers who work for agencies requiring them to provide their own firearms should be even more cautious about simply trading out the original Glock trigger for the S.I. Improved Glock Flat Trigger. If you provide your own firearm, then you above all else are liable for its performance. At a minimum you should have a Glock Certified Armorer examine your pistol, and install the Improved Glock Flat Trigger. Then you should have your agency document your firearm proficiency with the new trigger, and it would seriously behoove you to document hundreds, if not thousands, of rounds of practice with the enhanced trigger to stave off any legal attacks should a questionable shooting occur.
