You Cannot Alter Human Nature

I was watching the House Martins flying up and down the street earlier. What wonderful creatures they are. They spend the winter in the warmer climate South of the equator, then, just as Britain is approaching the full glory of summer and flying insects are becoming abundant, they fly back to the place of their birth to have their own brood. It has often been a source of wonder to me that the parents leave before the chicks. In fact, they leave a couple of weeks earlier than

their offspring. So who tells baby how to get to Africa? How do they even know that they need to fly south? The answer appears to be genetic programming.

Somewhere deep inside the double helix of the bird's DNA, is a gene that tells them they have to go south and how to get there. This Programming exists, to a greater or lesser extent, in all animals. Take a pair of juvenile rabbits and they will, all on their own, discover how to reproduce. Not only reproduce, but raise their offspring to maturity to continue their line. Genetic programming can be seen in other animal behaviour too. Numerous species will form a group, pack, pride, shoal or whatever collective noun we have given them, and Defend this group, often to the death. Nobody told them to do this, it is in their nature.

Humans are also programmed to behave in a certain way. I read a Book called "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" several years ago. In it, the writer argued that Human males and females are effectively different species, and the book aimed to inform us how to get along together in a more harmonious way. Why did the book have to be written? Well, because we have developed a society that tries constantly to overwrite our internal programming. Now, I am not saying that this is a bad thing, but as soon as one tries to change such a powerful force, one must accept that there will be the odd glitch. In a world where women are almost expected to work and the roles of the sexes are put off balance, there will inevitably be a period of imbalance. How long this period will last is an unknown variable, but I suspect it will be more than a few generations.

One common feature that runs throughout the world where "lost tribes" have been discovered, is that of the tribal concept. The clue is in the name lost tribe. Without exception, they have formed into settlements, defend their territory to the death and, in many cases, will actively seek to attack adjacent tribes with the aim of total genocide. It has happened all over the world, from Africa to Australia, and from England to Tahiti.

Why then, are we being asked to "celebrate diversity"? Diversity in humans is as alien as a House Martin flying to Greenland for winter. It goes against generations of genetic programming. Think about it for a second. Humans will fight over anything, football teams, religion, politics and obviously nationality. Whilst it is true that the majority of wars have been about religion, which allows us a common bond with other tribes, all others have been about territory. As a race, we find it all too easy to dislike an enemy for the slightest of reasons. We naturally bond to those of our "own kind".

To think that anything other than racial tension will result from expecting people of different cultures to live harmoniously together is naive in the extreme. Natural prejudice will result, not in all humans, but in enough to cause significant problems. We will pick on the slightest thing that differentiates us from others, so seeing a Muslim dressed in traditional garb, or an African in traditional tribal robes walking down our street will be like a red rag to a bull if natural instincts are allowed to take over. If you then legislate to make it illegal to do anything to discourage diversity in your life, or worse, legislate to force people to include minorities in favour of those whom they would naturally choose to work with, you can only be asking for trouble.

If we truly want equality in the UK, we must stop immigration happening at such a rate that the existing population feels overwhelmed. We must open the debate and allow free discussion of the subject and not just label someone who expresses doubts or worries as a racist. I speak my mind and hope that people accept me for who I am. I am no more racist than thousands of people from all over the world who defend their way of life the way I defend mine. It is time to take a realistic view before we have concreted over the entire UK countryside to house the millions of additional families. Time to defend the British way of life instead of worrying about celebrating Diwali or Ramadan and being concerned about our Christmas decorations in the High Street offending those who are not Christian.
