Islamic State/ISIS/ISIL Militants Seen Marauding Across Syria

Islamic State/ISIS/ISIL militants have abducted at least 150 people from Assyrian Christian villages in northeastern Syria.

Most of the people kidnapped are women, children and the elderly. As of today, their fate remains unknown.

Bassam Ishak, President of the Syriac National Council of Syria, told Reuters:

“We have verified at least 150 people who have been abducted from sources on the ground.”

Despite President Obama’s insistence that the U.S. fight against Islamic State/ISIS/ISIL is not a religious war, the facts contradict our president.

Christians have been the target of Islamic State/ISIS/ISIL fighters in the past. Just weeks ago, Radical Islamic Fighters beheaded 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians in Libya. Last fall, a video released on the internet showed Islamic State/ISIS/ISIL call for jihadists to target Catholics. Last summer, radical Islamic fighters forced more than 10,000 living in their homes in the Iraqi city of Mosul to pack up their belongings and flee.

The forced exodus of Christians from Mosul is the largest forced displacement in the region since the Ottoman Empire forced tens-of-thousands of Armenians out of what is modern day Turkey.
