Al-Shabaab Executes 28 Who Can’t Recite Quran
Al-Shabaab, a radical Islamic Terrorist Group and an offshoot of al-Qaeda, released an online a video calling for attacks on shopping malls in the United States, Canada, and the UK.
The FBI quickly downplayed the threat, saying:
“there is no indication of any specific, real threat.”
Al-Shabaab is the terrorist group responsible for the four day siege in September, 2013 on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya. The siege killed 60 people.
In the video, Al-Shabaab called for an attack on Mall of America, in Bloomington, MN (a Minneapolis suburb), along with West Edmonton Mall in Canada and the Oxford Street shopping area in London.
The Mall of America — unlike the FBI, took the threat seriously and issued the following statement:
“We will continue to monitor events with the help of federal, state and local Law Enforcement agencies. As always, we take any potential threat seriously and [will] respond appropriately. Mall of America has implemented extra security precautions, some may be noticeable to guests, and others won’t be. We will continue to follow the situation, along with law enforcement, and will remain vigilant as we always do in similar situations.”
