Overhauling Health Care

The most controversial looming ramping-up of Federal control is about to be discussed in Washington. The theory is that so many Americans are uninsured that the entire system is broken. The entire system must therefore be overhauled. The dangling carrot is that the government will pay for our health care. What we have paid in the past for our own health care will now be paid by the Federal government. That money will now be able to be put back in our pockets and someone else will now pay. This goes for those with and without insurance. It has actually been explained from Washington that it is cheaper to take over health care than to leave it in private hands.

The problem withthe theory that universal health care is needed is based on some funny math. The totals quoted of uninsured people includes those who choose not to buy insurance, those who fail to renew their Medicaid and Medicare benefits, and the real uninsured who truly cannot afford or who cannot find adequate personal health care plans. According to a published report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services(HHS), 2005 up to 21% of the 2004 uninsured are foreign born non-citizens.  Obviously many of the uninsured are undocumented workers or their families. Believe me I have treated many of them. There are obviously those who fall through the cracks. In reality an extension of a Medicare/Medicaid-like plan would suffice. An entire overhaul of the system is not required.

The promise coming out of Washington is you can keep your same insurance and health care provider. My question to you is...Why would your employer pay for your insurance if you can get it from the government for "free". Obama's  "pay-as-you-go" plan promises to pay for health care with government spending cuts.  Washington has been unable to stop spending more each year much less cut the Federal budget by an estimated 200 Billion dollars each year to pay for health care. Health care will be paid for with decreased services and decreased payments for those services.

Follow me and I will attempt to explain how the actions of a Federally-controlled health care system works, the potential actions of medical profiteers, and why you are not being told the truth about many aspects of health care in general.
