JUST ADD WATER AND STIR

"And so, after waiting patiently, Abraham obtained the promise." ~ Hebrews 6:15

Are you a patient person? For me it depends on the situation but typically I like instant results.  I am a product of what I call our microwave society and I generally have to make myself take a step back and realize that in general the world does not run on My Timetable and that is probably a good thing as none of us can see the whole picture.

Patience has disappeared in our society and no more so than in the state of politics. There was this assumption that President Trump when he was inaugurated would be able to fix all that ails this country and he could do it in a 100 days.  This is a ludicrous assumption but it is also reality at least if you listen/read the news.  I will admit that despite my passion for politics and reading voraciously I get caught in the trap of expecting instant change. Our country did not get into its current state in 100 days and thankfully the President of the US does not have the power to wave a pen and fix everything.  It bears repeating that in most instances Congress has the power to make and change laws, not the President and there are two chambers of Congress that have to agree before a bill even arrives on the desk of the President to sign into law.

I believe that change has started but it will take a long time for anything to change and it likely won't change until We the People elect House Members and Senators who want things to change.  The House and Senate are populated by people who in general are politically corrupt and beholden to K Street Lobbyist, they have zero intention of doing anything that returns power to We the People. One only has to look at the "Leadership" of either party in the House and Senate to see retaining their power is their sole focus.

President Trump talked about draining the swamp but he does not have the power to change Congress which is full of entrenched swamp dwellers.  That power belongs to each of us at the ballot box.

A perfect example of the K Street stranglehold on Congress is the AHCA the republican Obamacare.  Republicans since 2009 have promised to REPEAL Obamacare, please note President Trump wanted to repeal and replace, the replace part is one area where I strongly disagree with the President.  However undoing an entitlement once it is enacted is basically impossible. Obamacare created an entitlement that destroyed the Health Insurance market, but people now expect the government to hand them health insurance and assume it is a right.  Republicans despite their years of rhetoric are not the party of small government, they also like to spend our taxpayer dollars like a drunken sailor.  So the AHCA is basically a rewrite of Obamacare because the GOP has no spine and Paul Ryan is NOT a leader but the GOP does not have the spine to replace him either.

The Senate will now take up their own Health Insurance bill and in the end We the People will be stuck with whatever K Street thinks we need.  I am perfectly capable of deciding what is best for me, I do not need government to tell me what health insurance benefits I have to buy.  It is also important to note that Health Insurance does not equal Healthcare these are distinctly different but the government has conflated the two.

Please note I am not giving the Democrats a pass either, if they say one more time that I want people to die because I want Obamacare repealed in full I might just scream.  The only folks that actively work to ensure people die are those who promote and support the slaughter of the unborn which in general is the Democrat party.  The Democrats are in this stupid resist mode, it seems their sole purpose is to obstruct anything on Trump's agenda even if it helps the country.  It is completely ridiculous and destructive.  The funny thing is if the Democrats would stop throwing a tantrum they would discover the GOP is willing to do whatever they want, there is very little daylight on most issues between the two parties.

We The People need to realize that electing President Trump was a good first step to reclaiming our country but we cannot stop there.  We need NEW members in the House and Senate. Re-electing the same bunch will give us the same results.  We the People need to be active in politics and run for office and support the new people God is raising up to run for office.  It is incredibly expensive and difficult for someone to run for office if they are not part of the establishment, We the People need to help change that.  It is time for We the People to drain the entrenched swamp dwellers in our House and Senate.

I will say this be patient and don't grow weary, just adding water and stirring will not bring about true change in our Government.

Today pray for our military as they are battling ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
Today pray for the new government leaders God is raising up for next year's election.
Today pray for our government for wisdom and discernment.

Blessings,

Mel
