Angela's Ashes

I am sitting here cosily in a couch enjoying the lavishness of a first world country where as millions of people around the world languish in hunger and poverty. Is it just a momentary feeling or will it vanish with time? Is it because I just saw "Angela's Ashes" - the story of young Frank Mccourt in Ireland. I don't think things have changed lately - there are still people dying of hunger and poverty in hundreds of slums around the world, whether it is Limerick or Bombay or Khartoum. I spend easily $20,000 on a Honda Accord while they struggle for a meal or a morsel to kindle their muscles with energy.

It is a philosophical question - Is it supposed to be like this? Is this normal? Shall i start thinking like Ayn Rand - Ohh!! Is this Objectivism? I have earned my rights in this world and I am supposed to enjoy my affluence. I have complete right for the happiness since I earned it. But is this actual happiness? Do I get the same happiness when I dine at Olive Garden compared to a simple meal in the wilderness of Yosemite?

I am confused, I am still searching for the answers and I hope someone can give me one.
