Middle Eastern Self-Delusion

How important is it that you understand the rest of the world?  How important is it that you question any information that is just handed to you?  How important is it that you never trust government (anyone's government)?  One of the main things that I fault my American brethren for is their lack of a worldview.  But I guess I can almost forgive them.  This has been the downfall of all other great empires before them.  When you only see what the machine wants you to see, you willingly fall under the spell of the fear of other, of xenophobic superiority.  I can almost forgive their ignorance, as it is in the nature of man to feel superior.  However, the key word in there is almost.  They cannot be Forgiven as they are fully in control of what they believe.  They cannot be forgiven as it is in their power to vote. And they cannot be forgiven because, as Fox Mulder would put it, the truth is out there.  They just refuse to take the necessary steps to take off the blinders.  The world does not end on the shores of the Pacific and Atlantic.  There is a whole world out there that is not us.  The less you know of that world, the more chance it is that you're a complete idiot that will vote for the neatest soundbite you hear about how the world is out to get us for no reason at all other than "they hate us for our freedom."

That being said, Americans are not the only ones that willfully chose stupidity rather than actually going out there and finding the truth for themselves.  In fact, Americans are not even the worse ones.  For that honor, you must come to the Middle East.  The entire Israeli/Palestinian conflict is fueled by lies; lies on both sides.  The leaders on both sides are all to willing to promulgate lies about the other and their people are all to willing to believe those lies.  Arabs are willing to literally twist their own history if it means that they can delete Jews from the history of the Levant.  Israelis are willing to try to convince themselves that there is no such thing as a Palestinian.  Both of these lies belie facts on the ground.  But if a entire people are willing to lie to themselves in order to keep their own beliefs intact, regardless of the facts staring them in the face, then what chance does any outsider have of getting them to change their minds?  The short answer...NONE.

This is the reason that it doesn't matter what any President of the United States does in the long run.  There is nothing that a president can do or say that will solve the problems in the middle east, because there is nothing that they can do to change the myopic view of history that either side has on the issues.  So the best thing that any president can do (regardless of the fact that he is the most powerful man on the planet) is to take a moral stand, call out both sides for their immoral acts.

Religion should not have anything to do with this equation.  Those so-called Christians that support Israel, regardless of its actions, should understand that this is not the time of Moses.  This is where most Americans have a problem. The flavor of Christianity most enjoyed by Americans is one in which they love Israel, but know nothing about the religions practiced by its citizens.  Their raptured ladened philosophy sees Jews as potential Christians whose conversions will herald the end times. Because of this blind alligiance to the ideal of Israel as a pre-cursor of the coming of the end, they are willing to support without question.  Are you willing to be a bystander to even heinous acts committed in the name of security?  (I don't know why I'm asking this, since you were willing bystanders as our country invaded a soverign nation based on transparent lies.  Crusade indeed.)

For those liberals that are mouthpieces for the Palestinians, I have several question for you, Who truly speaks for the Palestinians?  Who is actually is responsible when the radicals commit unsupportable acts? Is there a point where you will actually find out for yourselves what goes on in Palestine instead of relying on propaganda?  (Flotillas?!  Give me a freakin' break!  Even the gesture is lame.)

I'm just looking for the logic.  Either you're followers of a just G_d, or you're just giving lipservice to his existence.  Whether you be Christian, Moslem or Jew, esplain to me how this furthers the cause of the G_d you claim to serve.  Because from where I'm sitting, it seems that the god being served is the ancient ba'al Moloch, since you are so willing to sacrifice your children to his fire.

The bulldozer solution is still on the table.
Stop the madness!
