China has sentenced a 26 year old Kenyan student Oliviah Singaniabe Munoko to a life sentence for trying to sneak 1.896 kg or about 4.18 pounds of heroin from Malaysia.

This was a lenient sentence because Ms. Munoko is a Kenyan citizen and admitted to the crime right away. The standard punishment in China for drug trafficking is to be summarily executed.

No three strikes rule in the People's Republic.
