How To Landscape On A Budget

How To Landscape On A Budget

Who says you cannot make the outside of your home look great on limited funds? Do it yourself projects are fun, and usually won't place a hole in your pocket. Learn exactly how you can make this happen, and in turn, make your neighbors jealous as well.

Shop at Large Retailers

Sure, you may want to help the local flower business down the road, but can you afford to do so? Larger corporate outlets have great deals on trees, fertilizer, flowers, gardening tools, you name it. Buying in bulk may also be to your advantage when looking to save a few pennies.

Garden with Friends

Hiring a professional gardener is not the way to save money, but it is the optimal way to save time. Since you probably cannot afford a professional, why not host a gardening party? Grab the wine, some of your favorite tunes, and invite the girls over. Have each person work on a section of the yard and you will be done in no time!

Take Advantage of a Tree Nursery

So you don't have to start from scratch, consider heading to a tree nursery. Sure, planting baby trees may seem easier, but the landscape will be far from impressive at first. A tree nursery will house various trees in optimal conditions until they reach a predetermined size suitable for sale. Shopping here will save you both time and money, plus you receive expertise gardening advice from the individuals who work there.

Focus on One Space at a Time

If you do not have friends or family members to lend a helping hand, make sure to take this project on one step at a time. Since you will be working with limited funds, consider planning to do one portion of the property per week. Think about tackling the front of the house first, then move onto the sides, and finish up your work in the backyard.

Set Realistic Goals

Were you unable to finish the yard work within a month's time? Perhaps your goals were not attainable. Depending on the size of your yard, and how much help is available, three weeks may just be a more reasonable time frame. Setting unrealistic time frames can result in heartache, one of those projects that is never ending, and a task that always ends up on the back burner.

Let's recap. Save money by visiting tree nurseries, getting a helping hand, buying from larger retailers and focusing on the most important parts of your property. Whoever said landscaping could not happen on a budget was not tackling the project correctly.
