Trees, shrubs and certain flowers are perennials. Plant according to specific planting zone and soil type. Perennials require less garden maintenance. One of the most prolific and showy flower perennials is rhododendron. This plant has been variegated from its original pink hue. Variegated plants are available in white, red, purple and melon colors. Plants have large, dark green leaves on lengthy branches that spread to about 5 ft in width.

Hardy Planting Zone - 4 to 9

Height at Maturity - 6 to 8 ft.

Soil Requirements - pH 4.5 to 6, moist, rich in humus and well-drained.
