When it comes to learning how to transplant bare root perennials or any perennial plants for that matter, it is important to perform the procedure in a step by step fashion in order to ensure that the plants are not damaged during the process. The biggest concern is that the plants will essentially go into shock or that they will be physically damaged when they are transplanted, making it virtually impossible for them to thrive afterwards. Therefore, it is essential that you do a little bit of planning and that you move slowly and carefully when you are actually transplanting them from one location to another.

If you are transplanting them from indoors to outdoors or to a different location, your first step is to make sure that you have the location where you want them to go prepared and ready to go before you ever put the plants in their new homes. That includes ensuring that you have proper drainage and that the soil is perfect for allowing the plants to grow and thrive. When you are finished, give your plants a good watering and then leave them alone for a day or two so they can get accustomed to their new home without constantly being bothered.
