Intertops Adds Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin Deposits

Renowned sportsbook, casino provider, and poker room Intertops has quietly added Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Litecoin (LTC) to its deposit menu sometime in March 2018. These two altcoins are not yet supported for cashouts, but we expect this functionality to be eventually deployed.

About Intertops BCH and LTC Deposits

Customers can add funds to their accounts in sums between $25 and $2,500 through either Bitcoin Cash or Litecoin. The first step is to go to the Intertops cashier and click “Deposit” next to the appropriate crypto-currency in the deposit menu.

Another window will pop up asking for the payment amount. Enter in the value of the funds you wish to add to your balance, and then click “Next Step.”

Intertops will next tell you how many coins correspond to the USD number you typed in. You'll also see an address to send your coins to. It's displayed as both a QR code for mobile devices and text form, which can be easily copied to the clipboard with the click of a button.

Send your funds within the 60-minute timer shown on the screen. Otherwise, your transaction may not be valid at the exchange rate that was locked in at the time you initiated the depositing process. If you have second thoughts about your deposit, you can click “Cancel” to abort it.

After receiving your crypto-currency transfer, Intertops will credit your account with the equivalent amount of U.S. dollars. All bets in the sportsbook, wagers in the casino, and games in the poker room use dollars; Intertops only employs crypto-currency for cashier functions.

Reasons Behind Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin Support

Intertops is one of the largest and oldest online gambling firms around, so it's always concerned about keeping up with its competitors. While we don't have any special insight into what the company is thinking, it's very likely that execs have been watching with some worry as both Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin proliferated at other internet gaming destinations. These two cryptos have, in fact, become two of the most commonplace digital coins used by online betting services.

Litecoin can be used to wager at the Chico Poker Network and the Winning Poker Network. Bitcoin Cash meanwhile is supported by both of these organizations and the PaiWangLuo Network as well. Besides these mainly fiat-currency operators, there are also several crypto-only gaming sites, like Fortune Jack and mBit, that transact in BCH and LTC. Intertops is merely catching up with ongoing trends by including them as deposit options.

Where Intertops still falls short is in not offering LTC and BCH withdrawals. It's not unusual for gambling firms to accept cryptos for deposits before enabling payouts via these channels later on, and this is likely what's going on here. We expect Intertops to allow users to cash out with Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin before too long. This will beef up its already solid history of reliable payouts to winners.

About the Two Crypto-Currencies

Litecoin was launched in 2011, making it one of the earliest cryptos to appear after Bitcoin founded the industry. LTC was developed by Charlie Lee, a former Google employee. It boasts 2.5 minute blocks and the use of the scrypt algorithm, which is memory-intensive and thus resistant to attempts at developing specialized mining hardware. As of March 22, 2018, the price of one Litecoin is about $164, and the value of all LTC in circulation is approximately $9.1 billion, earning it the fifth spot in crypto-currency market capitalization.

Bitcoin Cash was created as a hard fork of Bitcoin in August 2017 in an attempt to address scalability issues as virtual currency started to gain mainstream popularity. BCH is a joint effort between several prominent mining groups and hardware vendors. The major change was an increase in block size to 8 MB from 1 MB, which reduces transaction fees as there's less competition for block space. The value of one unit of BCH is about $1,009, and the market cap of the coin as a whole is $17.2 billion. Bitcoin Cash is the fourth-largest crypto-currency by market cap.
