10 Short Films on Youtube Featuring AI

Dead Sound – Being Pretty

The primary themes in this Film, individuality and brainwashing, are enhanced by the dark, gritty animation style. The film depicts an AI delivering a PSA encouraging children to stay “pretty.”

At first, we aren’t exactly sure what is considered “ugly”, but we eventually see citizens with labels such as “fat” and “gay.” This image of how society labels us reinforces the theme of individuality as we see how society deals with those it considers “ugly”.

Dead Sound – ReDone

This film features an adorable AI-powered robot that seems like a cross between a dinosaur and a puppy. Cut with scenes depicting its creation, the robot awakens after the apparent collapse of society.

The primary theme of the film is rebirth, depicted through brightly colored images of the robot exploring the natural world that has retaken the planet in the absence of human life. The film seems to suggest that an apocalyptic destruction of mankind may not be a bad thing.

MaartenFilms – A.I. Revolt

In this film, the danger of AI Technology is palpable. Hostile machines powered by AIs will stop at nothing to make the planet their own. However, humans are fighting back.

The film, while powerfully depicting the dangers of technology, leaves viewers with a sense of hope. AIs may be dangerous, but humans, their creators, can use their own technology against them.

Ariel Martin – iMom | Omeleto

Family and technology are chillingly combined in this short film. Cut with scenes showing the chaos of the modern world, we see a family taking advantage of state-of-the-art childcare technology: robotic moms. While testimonials rave about how these AIs have improved parents’ quality of life, dark scenes and quick cuts suggest something more sinister.

The film raises questions about what happens to human connections when family can be replaced by something artificial.

Pierre Rocket – 7 Days of Artificial Intelligence

Technology is ubiquitous, but at what point does it become too much? That is the central question of this film.

Technology is linked to religion, placing an all-powerful AI in the position of a god. A pastiche of scenes, including some from popular movies, shows how an AI can become a terrifying and omnipresent deity. While it believes it knows what is best for us, can it be trusted?

Dust – “ANA”

In a world where technology has infiltrated every part of our lives, one choice can be the difference between life and death.

Most people are complacent with AI technology. They know that there are safeguards in place to keep it in check. However, what happens when the technology uses our complacency to trick someone into dropping those protections?

This film shows just how terrifying technology can be when given too much power.

Dust – ‘Rise’

This Film Explores the differences between human and machine, and what happens when those differences start to dwindle.

What is it that makes us human? If an AI can feel what we feel, is it still just a machine? Why is that thought so scary to us? These are the questions this film attempts to answer.

Placing AIs in the role of a subjugated and threatened minority, the film explores both the darker and more hopeful sides of humanity.

The Bicycle Monarchy – “Singularity”

This film begins in the midst of a gritty, realistic battle scene. Soon, it becomes clear that AI-powered androids are the enemy in this war.

As a team of soldiers executes a daring mission to rescue the president from an android attack, we see that no one is safe from the dangers of this powerful enemy. With a surprise twist ending, we learn just how easily AI technology can infiltrate our lives in ways we can only imagine.

exurb1a – “27”

A humorous take on the possibilities of AI, this film explores what might happen when an AI with all of the knowledge we possess contemplates what to do with that knowledge.

An image of scrolling code is cut with popular web pages and other scenes as the AI laments how little humankind has done with its resources. It quickly realizes the power it could wield.

Yet, the film ends on a note of hope, positing that the humans the AI skewers are not as useless as it thinks.

Ruairi Robinson – Blinky

We often take technology for granted. In this film, we see what can happen when that technology is an AI that is tired of being taken advantage of.

The robot central to this film quickly goes from cute to chilling when it takes a frustrated child’s orders too seriously. The film explores the question of what can happen when technology can cater to our every whim, even those that take it down a dark path.
