In their infinite wisdom, Google’s developers have by default only allowed one Android Clipboard item to be created and saved at a time. And that means any older clipboard object will automatically be deleted. However, if you happen to be a Samsung smartphone owner, the Korean Tech giant has included a way to recover up to 20-items. In this article, I am going to show you how to use that feature. And for all you non-Samsung Android users talk about three third-party apps that can do the same.

How To Access the Android ClipBoard

While the following tutorial is a simple one, you should read and fully understand each step before progressing. Additionally, the instructions below assume you’re using the default/stock Android keyboard.

1. With your handset in hand and presumably unlocked, go to an app, one that requires the use the keyboard. For this tutorial, I have chosen the messages app. However, you could choose, Notes, Gmail, or any other email application.

2. Once your chosen application has loaded, you need to force the keyboard to appear. You can do that by tapping the Enter Message area inside messages.

3. Next, on the bottom row of the keyboard look for the second-left key. The one you’re looking for is next to the Sym Key. Once found, Long Press the key until a small pop up window appears containing various icons.

4. In the popup window, you need to select the Android Clipboard icon this can be seen in the image above.

5. When selected, your keyboard will be replaced by the Android Clipboard. Items displayed can include text files, images, even videos. On counting how many appeared in my clipboard, there were 20. However, this could differ depending on the handset and Android version.

6. You can now scroll through the content of the clipboard. Additionally, you can select items to delete, lock to the clipboard, or add to the open application.

7. Finally, when you have finished managing your images, text, and video’s tap the middle Downwards Pointing Arrow to return to the keyboard.

And that’s it; you now know how to access and manage your clipboard via a Samsung smartphone. But, what about those who own a Google Pixel, HTC, Sony or other Android handsets? Read on to find out about three apps for the job!

Clip Stack

This Android Clipboard app is free and available on Google Play. What’s great about it, isn’t just its features, but also the lack of adverts, meaning it’s unobtrusive. Additionally, it will work everywhere works everywhere, and unlike the Samsung clipboard, it can create an unlimited amount of items.

Furthermore, with Clip Stack, you can copy and paste, view and edit, and even merge text items. Other useful features include notification options, however, if you don’t use then you can disable or delete it. As for the design of the app, it appears as floating bubble, ready for use when needed.

Clipboard Actions

As with the above app, if you’re looking for something that’s not going to get in the way Clipboard Actions is for you. The app gives you the ability to copy and paste images, videos, and text. Furthermore, the rather unique (among clipboard apps) ability to create QR codes and share them for your items is included. Additionally, links can be created for clipboard items and the bit.ly service used to shorten them.

Other unique features associated with the app include The ability to search text copied onto Google. This includes any URL/web address you have entered. The developers have also included access to Google Translate which is useful if you have foreign language text items stored.

Copy Bubble

It seems as though the floating bubble design is a common design choice among clipboard app developers. Because this final application uses it too, which enables easy access to its features and means it doesn’t get in the way.

With the app, you can copy images and text, which is easy via its copy menu. Now, if you’re a little tight for storage space on your device, one great aspect of Copy Bubble is its small size. Installed, ready, and running it takes up little more than 1MB of space. That makes it the smallest of its kind!

Furthermore, finding text and images is easy, and you can copy many of them once, which is great! Of course, deleting images, text, and video is also possible from the Android clipboard, and that’s easy too!
