Invicta 8932 Review

Welcome to our comprehensive Invicta 8932 review, the 8932 invicta is basically the the quartz equivalent of Invicta’s automatic 8296 model. It’s pretty much identical in terms of look and feel, the only difference is the movement.

Positives Negatives Difference between 89-26 and Invicta 8932
  • The best pro diver watch you can buy for under $60
  • Case is made from durable stainless steel with a simple but classic black dial
  • 200 M Water Resistance makes this a true diver grade watch
  • Same exact appearence as the more expensive 8926
  • Quartz Movement is more precise than the automatic movement

  • Quartz movement might be seen as a negative to those who prefer automatic
  • Mineral Crystal scratches more easily than flame fusion
  • Non-Coin Edged Bezel can be harder to grip for some
[/errorlist]
The Invicta 8932 uses Japanese Quartz Movement as opposed to an automatic movement, Quartz movements operate by electronically measuring the vibration of a piece of quartz. Typically quartz movements are more precise than automatic movements but require a battery to power them, automatic movements are powered kinetically and don’t need batteries.

Despite being more accurate quartz watches are cheaper than automatic, this is because automatic watches have more expensive mechanical  movements and appeal to enthusiasts and collectors alike.

One thing that makes the Invicta mako pro diver 8932 stand out, is that it has a transparent back case exhibiting the inner workings of the watch. Transparent backs prevent people with allergies to metal on their skin from developing a rash, and are generally preferred by diver’s for this reason.

Case & Dial BezelBraceletMineral CrystalMovement

Case

The case is constructed from 316L brushed Stainless Steel making it very durable, the diameter measures in at 40mm making this a fairly well sized watch. The watch has been certified as 200 m waters resistant, making it ideal for professional divers, however the crown needs to be screwed down to prevent water from infiltrating inside the watch. The stainless steel construction is brushed except for the inner bracelet links which are polished.

Dial

The dial is colored in a deep and masculine black that matches the color of the bezel. The Invicta logo sits proudly at the 12 o’clock position and is embroidered in stainless steel. The indexes are coated in luminescent trinite which is Invictas proprietary formula for adding luminescence. The hour, minute and second hand are also coated in trinite, ensuring that the watch face can be seen in dark waters or pitch black. The luminescence are very effective and maintain luminescence for 20 hours when exposed too minimal sun light.

This watch has a unidirectional bezel which is an essential commodity for divers needing to measure elapsed time. The bezel is black and is scalloped around the edge, some people prefer the bezel to be coined edged as it is less slippery in water however it is really down to personal preference. The bezel has 120 clicks for a whole rotation and is accurate to approximately half a minute.

Invicta’s bracelet is made from Brushed Stainless Steel and is therefore quite durable. The center links are polished as per industry standard, and the overall look is reminiscent of the Rolex Oyster watch from the submariner series. The bracelet has a fold over deployment clasp that ensures the watch doesn’t fall off when diving, it’s crucial to rinse the bracelet after immersion in salt water to prevent corrosion.
The Invicta 8932 is protected by a mineral crystal which isn’t as scratch resistant as Invicta’s propriety Fusion crystal, which can only be scratched by diamonds.Mineral crystal is by no means bad and is sufficient enough in protecting the watch from shock and minor scratches that could occur due to daily wear or diving excursions. There is a cyclops magnifying window over the 3 o’clock position that is directly aligned correctly with the date.
The 8932 utilizes a japanese quartz movement, which keep time to +/- 15 second per week. Despite being less expensive quartz movements are generally more accurate than automatic movements. This proves true with the 8926 which uses a Japanese Automatic Movement and is slightly less accurate than the invicta pro diver 8932 despite being more expensive, this is because automatic self winding time pieces are more sought after by collectors and enthusiasts due too having more expensive mechanical parts.

8.5 Total Score

Invicta 8932 is an affordable and high quality diver's watch that provides great value for money. The overall aesthetics match that of a much more expensive watch such as the Rolex Submariner, the water diver grade 200 m water resistance and high quality stainless steel construction make it the best watch suitable for diving for under $60.

If you want automatic movement I would suggest purchasing the 8926 instead as it is identical to the 8932 but with japanese automatic movement. Overall the Invicta 8932 is an excellent watch and testament to Invicta’s ability to make high quality timepieces at an affordable price.
