Five reasons not to buy the OnePlus 5!

Tags: oneplus phone

Here at DailyObjects, a lot of us are big fans of Oneplus. Someone on the team just got himself a OnePlus 3T a couple of months back and he still can’t get over how great a phone it is. After a couple of misses with the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus X, the company finally got its act together in 2016 and released the brilliant OnePlus 3. A phone that completely redefined what a smartphone should cost and made hundreds of thousands of Indians ask themselves why they would or should pay any more for a flagship smartphone. With the OnePlus 3T, just six short months ago, OnePlus showed that they weren’t shy of revving their latest model to keep it competitive with everything else in the market.

Now we’re halfway through 2017 and the OnePlus 5 is nigh. To call the images we’ve seen and info that we have heard about the forthcoming OnePlus, leaks, would be an understatement. We know what the phone will look like, what camera setup it will have, what processor is going to power it and we even have a pretty good idea of what it is going to cost. So, here are our top five reasons that after two hits, the OnePlus 5 is going to be a miss that you’re going to want to give a… well, you know.

1. Derivative Design

Yes, the OnePlus 5 looks very much like an iPhone 7 but lets face it, this is how all phones look more or less now, with the camera bump and the antenna lines in an all metal-back. The OnePlus 5 looks great so if your only problem with the looks is that they are not completely original, you’re going to have to just #DEALWITHIT

2. Meh Battery

The OnePlus 5 will probably have trouble getting through a day if you use it a lot but guess what, in the hands of a heavy user, almost any phone with a 5.5” screen has trouble getting through a day. Plus, we’ve got two words for you: DASHCHARGE™

Okay, that’s one word, but you get the point. OnePlus’ proprietary charging technology gives your phone hours of juice with just a few minutes of being plugged in. Find a place to plug in every now and then and you’ll be just fine.

3. #Weaksauce Camera

Some people complained that photos from the OnePlus 3 just weren’t as good as the best from Samsung and Apple. With the OnePlus 5, the company should finally bring its camera game up to par. Dual cameras at the back should give it the ability to do the same portrait feature and zoom trickery as the iPhone, so thats one more thing than you can just stop kvetching about already

4. Price Creep

All the rumours about pricing for the OnePlus 5 indicate that it will be more than 10% higher than the OnePlus 3T, which itself was more than 10% higher than the OnePlus 3. For people complaining about this, please remember that the OnePlus 5 will still be about ten or even twenty thousand rupees cheaper than competitive hardware from the big boys like Apple and Samsung. It’s still going to be a great value phone so just work a little harder and save a little more, mmkay?

5. Slow Updates

Slow software updates are the perpetual complaint of all Android users who don’t own a Pixel or Nexus phone but OnePlus has been one of the better brands when it comes to quick updates. The OnePlus 5 will come with Nougat™ and we’ll bet good money that it gets the next Android update before ANY of the competition does, so don’t worry about it.

With all (or most) of your worries about the phone countered, here are our awesome OnePlus 5 Designer Cases for the phone that we’ve launched even before it has been released. We can’t wait to get our hands on the OnePlus 5 and we can’t wait to see people using and posting photos with our OnePlus 5 Leather Wallet Cases!
