Apple Likely to Sell Future OLED iPhones at Budget Price: Claims Analysts

According to TrendForce, a website engaged in industry analysis claims that Apple is likely to sell its OLED iPhones at a budget price. This change in pricing strategy is partly due to less-than-expected sales of iPhone X last year and stiff competition from Chinese brands, which sell high-quality smartphones at lower prices.

It has been rumored since long that Apple would introduce three smartphones this fall: two OLED models (5.8″ and 6.5″) and one LCD iPhone with a 6.1-inch display.

There won’t be any home button, as all these three phones will feature Face ID. However, TrendForce predicts that Apple’s budget LCD device will be the leader regarding production share.

Apple Plans to Introduce its 2018 iPhones at Lower Prices

As per TrendForce, “The specs upgrades would make new iPhones more favorable in the competition with Android phones. On the other hand, the cost of this model has been approaching that of iPhone 8 Plus due to the upgrades. However, the 6.1-inch LCD model would be positioned by Apple’s main product this year, with a production share of around 50% in the new iPhone series.”

“Apple is bound to adjust the prices of this model to meet the market expectation and to expand its market share further. Considering the cost reduction of components, TrendForce estimates the starting price of this LCD version at around $699-749.”

Analysts at TrendForce expect that Apple might put its 5.8-inch device into the price bracket of $899 to $949. Since Apple wants to target premium business segment with its 6.5-inch device, this might be sold at a starting price of $999.

The current generation of iPhone X may find its dead end, as Apple will replicate the features and specifications in its 5.8-inch iPhone in September this year.

To put the price under control, Apple has already been making sincere efforts by roping in LG to manufacture OLED displays. In another report, it was also reported that a Chinese company was planning to supply Apple with OLED displays.

Summing up…

Apple will leave no stone unturned to win back consumers it has lost to Android phones. Following the price war, Apple had to suffer a lot regarding brand value. Apple will ensure that its smartphones will stay on the top of the line.
