How to Downgrade iOS 11 Beta to iOS 10.3.2 on iPhone and iPad

Can no longer bear with the annoying bugs of the latest iOS version? No need to fret over it mate! You can easily downgrade iOS 11 to iOS 10.3.2 on your iPhone and Ipad.

As iOS 11 is still in beta, it needs some more polish to run smoothly. Hence, you must be battle ready to encounter issues like rapid battery drain or random freezing. But if your patience has given in, follow through this quick guide to go back to iOS 10.3.2 from iOS 11 on your iPhone and iPad.

How to Downgrade iOS 11 Beta to iOS 10.3.2/10.3.3 on iPhone and iPad

Note: Make sure your Mac/Windows PC is running the latest version of iTunes.

Step #1. First up, download the iOS 10.3.2 IPSW file on your iOS device. Make sure to download the right firmware file.

Note: I would recommend you to download the firmware file using Chrome or Firefox. In case you are using Safari, make sure to disable auto unzip feature. Alternatively, you can rename the .zip file as a .ipsw file to breeze through the process in case you are using Apple's browser.

Note: If your iDevice is running iOS 10.3.3 (which is in beta now) or later, visit this site and download the respective IPSW file.

Step #2. Next, you need to disable Find My iPhone feature. Head over to Settings → iCloud → Find My iPhone and turn it off.

Step #3. Next, you have to put your iOS device into DFU mode.

Note: Follow through this quite to enter DFU mode on your iPhone 7/7 Plus.

  • On other iOS devices, just connect your device to computer. Then, turn off your device. (press and hold on the power button and then slide to power off as usual.)
  • Now, you need to press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds. You have to hold the Home button while still holding the Power button for about 10 seconds.
  • Then after, you need to releasethe power button but keep holding the home button until you see a popup from iTunes that it has detected your device is in Recovery mode.

Note: In case the the popup doesn't appear, you need to try the process of holding the buttons all over again.

  • Then, click on the OK

Step #4. On your Mac, you have to hold the Alt/Option key (or Option+Command key)

On your Windows PC, you have to hold on the Shift key. Then, click on the Restore iPhone/iPad button.

Next up, you will have to browse and choose the IPSW file you have just downloaded.

Step #5. Now, you have to click on Restore and Update button to proceed.

Once iTunes has verified the software, it will install it on your device. Now, you will have to wait for a few minutes until the process has been completed.

When the downgrading process is completed, you need to set up your device by following the on-screen instructions. Then, you can easily restore your device from any previous iTunes backup.

How to Downgrade iOS 11 to iOS 10.3.2 (via Recovery Mode)

You can also downgrade your device via Recovery Mode. Through this method, you can't choose the iOS version you wish to go back unlike DFU mode. iTunes will automatically downgrade your device to the previous iOS version. (Here are the diffrences between Recovery Mode and DFU Mode)

Step #1. First up, you need to enter Recovery mode on your device. To do so, turn off your iOS device and then press and hold on the Home button. (on your iPhone 7/7 Plus, you need to press and hold on the Volume down button.)

Step #2. Now, connect your iPhone to your Mac or Windows PC. Now, ensure that iTunes is up and running.

Next, you need to release the volume down button when Connect to iTunes screen appears on your device.

Step #3. Now, click on Restore in the popup. Then, click on Restore and Update to confirm.

Step #4. You have to click on Next on the iOS 10.3.2 Software Updater.

Then, click on Agree to accept the Terms and Conditions.

Note: Just in case, your device reboots to your iOS beta even before the download process has been completed, you will have to repeat the same steps mentioned above.

After the download process is completed, you can either set your device as new or restore it from the previous backup. The choice is yours!
