From a broken Nokia to an iPhone

I'll start by admitting that I'm not a gadget freak, I don't hold my breath for new pieces of technology to appear...I don't know how much iPhone 4S costs and I've never touched an IPad. I am a sort of a conservative person from this point of view.

I used to believe that the use of a phone is to speak with people..I stayed in touch with my family and friends and that was enough for me. I didn't understand why people paid hundreds of dollars to buy the latest smartphones..at the time my phone was a Nokia something..I don't remember the exact model, one of those folding old phones, sort of silver-ish. I remember my joy when I bought it, it looked kind of modern at the time - there were no smartphones then. However, I am not a careful person, I don't really take care of things, unless I paid a lot of money to buy them. It was not the case, so I dropped it down a lot of times during the years. In the end its cover broke, so that instead of being held from two points, its cover was sort of hanging on a side and the screen didn't light up anymore. I would use a lamp at night to light the screen when I wanted to write a message or make a phone call.

But even in this situation I didn't consider buying a new one because I was sort of used to it and didn't have money. My boyfriend on the other hand, is passionate about gadgets, new technology and especially smartphones. He had the Sony Ericsson Walkman at the time. He gave it to me and bought a Sony Ericsson P1i for himself. With that little stick taping on the screen, I loved the way it looked in his hands, but I didn't imagine myself wasting time with a stick..I thought that a plain and simple button would do a better job and a lot faster. But after a year my boyfriend bought an iPhone 3G..so I got the P1i..it looked great, had touch screen, I could read a book on it, but I found its screen too small, and at times the system was moving too slow..however, it was a great improvement from my Sony Ericsson Walkman model so I didn't complain :).

With the iPhone things changed for me..I would beg my boyfriend to let me touch the screen, to tap an icon or move it from one place to another; he would make fun of me saying that I can't touch it because I could break it, considering my history of breaking things.. But I knew that not after long the phone will be mine :D:D, so I waited patiently for him to raise money to buy the 3GS model :). Unfortunately the 3G was stolen so in the end I didn't receive it. But because the love for Apple was big and the passion for iPhone relentless, he soon bought a 3GS. Half an year later he bought the iPhone 4 and I finally received my first iPhone.

I have the iPhone now for 3 months and I love it! I decided to write in this blog about me and my new gadget, about how from a "I can't care less about brands" person I began to love Apple and how I discover, every day, new things, tricks and secrets about the iPhone.
