Review On Ooma

Ooma Telo is an work of art.  It's well design and sleek looking.  It has touch controls and they are very sensitive.  The set up was a breeze, took less than 20 minutes.  The sound is clear, but not the very best.  But it could be my DSL.  It took them 2 months to do phone porting (transfer old no. to Ooma) so I end up paying 2 more months for more land line.   Also I believe after the first year they will charge you a yearly regulatory fee for $12.  I have not used it for over a year yet, but if they do charge that yearly fee, it's still ok.  I'm still saving money comparing to my old telephone company.  I never called customer support, I normally don't really like to call any customer service unless there's nothing I can do to resolve my issues.  Normally the Ooma support forum has answers to what I need.  Overall it was not so bad.

Although the upfront purchase took a chunk of money (about $200), in the long run it will save me some money.  But in my opinion I would not get the premier features for $9.99 per month, after all we decided to pick Ooma to save money.  So the least $ the better  :D  You can use the phones that you have in your house already.  You can also buy the Ooma Telo dect phone if you wish, but I don't know how is the call quality on those.  Never tried it.

They are coming out with many new Ooma accessories.  Such as the Ooma wireless adapter, and the Ooma Bluetooth adapter.  So far I haven't purchase any of those but I might give the Ooma wireless adapter a try.  I really didn't like the idea where I have to pull ethernet cable to the Ooma Telo system since the router is in my room.  So having that Ooma wireless adapter will be more convenience.  At least less cable clutter.

Overall it's not such a bad product, it the long run you will save money.  Make sure if you do get Ooma you cancel the premier features after the 60 days free trial, unless you want to keep it. :D

If you make a lot international calls make sure you read this.
