How 4G VoLTE And 4G LTE Are Different

In today’s world, the term ‘4G’ is not something which is unheard of. Now everyone knows ‘4G’ means ‘fourth generation’ of data Technology for cellular networks, thus referring to our current generation. Standing true to its name, 4G proved to be way ahead of its predecessor 3G, as its speed is 10 times more than previous Network speeds. Under 4G, there are two types – Volte and 4G LTE, that have taken the responsibility of keeping our craving for information alive.

Though 4G VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and 4G LTE (acronym for Long Term Evolution) both have the ability to deliver high speed and power, and are used extensively all around the globe; there are some differences between the two. In common language, LTE is rather extensively known as 4G; and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that VoLTE is like an upgraded version of LTE specifically targeted at improving call quality. If we were to shortlist the advantages of VoLTE over LTE the following would be of the most primary importance:

Superior Calling Quality

While LTE was specifically designed keeping data transfer speed in mind, i.e., a data-only technology, VoLTE focuses on improving call quality and was designed to support voice as well as data transmission. Also, since VoLTE is based on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network, one can simultaneously send voice and data over the network without diminishing quality of voice. This gives a much richer calling experience as compared to LTE technology. Voice quality is not compromised in VoLTE and thus remains excellent even if the data connection is on and is being used for browsing.

Whenever one has to make a call or receive one over LTE, the phone has to switch from LTE/4G to 2G or 3G and again back to 4G after the call is completed. All that switching, plus the need to search for a different signal each time, can give the battery a significant hit. The problem is solved with the emergence of VoLTE technology when doesn’t need to switch between networks. If we talk about numbers, it could save you around 2 hours of battery every day and that’s pretty huge.

Improved Coverage and Connectivity

4G VoLTE phones operate at a frequency of 800 MHz, so they connect faster as compared to LTE phones, hence giving them a winning edge. This also means that it can make connections much farther away from the mobile phone tower, thus having a wider network coverage. The signals have high penetration power and thereby can reach into the deepest corner of a building.

Enhanced Video Call Quality

Under VoLTE connection, the visual is relatively clear without any grids, as compared to LTE. Traditional video call connected under 3G network. Video calls connected under VoLTE, can reach resolutions upto 640×480 pixels. This undoubtedly leads to excellent video calling experience, which cannot be found in any other technology. VoLTE also allows you to make video calls without using any third party apps. You can thus use your mobile number and the regular dialer and call interface to make and receive video calls from anyone else with VoLTE, rather than relying on separate accounts.

VoLTE is the technology of today, and is definitely an amazing package in this fast-paced world. And being the most advanced and fastest network available till date, it is the undisputed winner among its competitors, and it wins hands down.
