Xiaomi Bedside Lamp Design
One of the coolest things about this Xiaomi Lamp is its design. It’s easy to agree that the Xiaomi Bedside Lamp looks better than the average lamp, but that way it works is even more interesting.
Firstly, the second generation of the bedside lamp brings the Mijia logo instead of the Yeelight logo on its base. That is another evidence that Xiaomi is planning to integrate all of its devices to be controlled from the MiHome App. The word Jia in Chinese means home, therefore Mijia is also the English name of the MiHome App.
The Xiaomi Bedside Lamp body is made of alloy and acrylic, and is very well finished. On top of it you will find two buttons, one to turn it on and off and the other to control its modes. You can also use your fingers to swipe the top of it (more on this below).
Due to its very versatile functionalities and clean design, it is easy to integrate in your bedroom. The Xiaomi Bedside Lamp definitely adds to your sleeping or even working environment, as its modes are quite flexible.
Turning Your Xiaomi Lamp On
Once you get your Xiaomi Bedside Lamp is pretty easy to set it up, especially if you don’t want to use its smart functionalities. After plugging it on electricity, all you have to do is turning your Xiaomi Bedside Lamp on, and its white light will come on.
From its other button you can control its three modes.
How to Install (WiFi) and Connect your Xiaomi Yeelight Bedside Lamp
In case you want to control your Xiaomi Bedside Lamp with your mobile phone, the installation is a bit more complex, but fairly easy.
Firstly you need to install your MiHome App from the Google Play Store. There is also a version available for iOS but it is known that Xiaomi devices work much better on Android (at least so far).

Secondly, you may want to to install the Yeelight App, also available for Android and iOS. You will be able to control your lamp using both of these apps. However, the MiHome App is enough.

Now, make sure of your Xiaomi Bedside Lamp is on, and check the list of WiFi networks in your area. If everything is ok, you will see that one of the networks is called YeeLight, with some numbers after it.
Sync the Bedside Lamp to your MiHome App
Let’s connect our Yeelight then to your MiHome App. There are basically two ways for doing this, but I highly recommend using your apps to auto-detect your new Bedside Lamp.
Make your MiHome App to auto-detect your new Bedside Lamp, and it will download and sync some data between your phone and your Bedside Lamp. When all this process is done a new icon will be available on your Android desktop. You can then control all the Xiaomi Yeelight Bedside Lamp features now from your mobile phone.
One important thing here is that your WiFi should have a pretty stable in order to install your Bedside Lamp successfully. In case your WiFi signal is unstable or work, I suggest you trying to reinstall it multiple times, as it will be probably required.
Normally the installation problems happen when loading circle starts to slow down its way to 99%, and then finally an error message comes up. If this is your case, try to stay as close to the lamp and to your WiFi router as possible.
You can control the intensity, the modes and the colour of your Xiaomi Bedside Lamp, and you have 16 million colors to choose from.
