Have you heard about the soon to be released movie “A Dog’s Purpose”?

A Dog’s Purpose stars Britt Robertson, KJ Apa, John Ortiz, with Dennis Quaid and Josh Gad. It is produced by Gavin Polone (Zombieland, TV’s Gilmore Girls).  The film from Amblin Entertainment and Walden Media is executive produced by Alan Blomquist and Mark Sourian, and it will be distributed by Universal Pictures.

Based on the beloved bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron, A Dog’s Purpose, from director Lasse Hallström (The Cider House Rules, Dear John, The 100-Foot Journey), shares the soulful and surprising story of one devoted dog (voiced by Josh Gad) who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love.  The family film told from the dog’s perspective also stars Dennis Quaid, Peggy Lipton, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, Juilet Rylance, Luke Kirby, John Ortiz and Pooch Hall.

Let me tell you a personal story about me and my dog Roxie.

Once upon a time, I loved dogs. Scottie and Princess were my childhood friends. Then in my teen years a chow chow attacked me leaving haunting scars – both physical and mental. Knowing that was
not healthy, I tried to overcome….

The years that followed brought marriage and children. I knew I did not want them to be a hostage to all my own hopes and fears so I allowed them to have dogs. Mutts, Labs, Scotties, Westies, and St.
Bernards followed, but none captured my heart until….

A tiny puppy came into my life. An unthinking teen girl decided she didn’t want her. An unknowing teen boy decide he could not care for her. Twice abandoned, I thought I was rescuing her. Little did I
know then that she was the one rescuing me.

Her name Roxie well-fits her form and behavior – rambunctious, high-energy, graceful. Like a Rockette, she uses her legs. Who would expect less from a thoroughbred boxer? Her presence is real therapy
for me. That docked tail follows me closely, faithfully. She is my protector too even though I need no protection. She is my love.

Roxie is one of the family. We all love her – hubby, children, grandchildren too. Hubby laughs each time he finds her curled beside me in our bed. A few years ago we nearly lost her. Luckily
emergency surgery and time in a vet hospital followed by home care saved her. She beat the odds.

Roxie is devoted and loyal, and a show stealer as well. WDW vacation time, I am not sure who is the more popular character one of Disney’s or her. She is quite the dresser too. Just look at her in her Halloween Trick or Treat attire. She’s still beautiful even though graying – natural for her 13 years.

Roxie and I have grown old together. I cherish her and thank her for memories. I can never replace her; I don’t want to. She gave me happiness as she taught me to laugh and love. Roxie has been a blessing in my life.
