Fun March Holidays for the entire family!

March is full of fun holidays. Teach children how to Celebrate by choosing holidays to celebrate.   Here are some March holidays worthy of celebration:

March 10 – Mario Day. You know Mario, the fun little character on the very popular Nintendo video game, Super Mario. I know my children have played all the games. Celebrate the day by playing, what else, Super Mario!

March 11 – Oatmeal Nut Waffle Day.  Okay, this may not be a day you want to celebrate unless you really like oatmeal, nuts, and waffles. But what a great way to introduce a new food to your family than to celebrate on a holiday.

March 12 – Alfred Hitchcock Day. What child wouldn’t enjoy the fascination and intrigue than with an Alfred Hitchcock movie? Introduce them to a piece of our entertainment history by having an Alfred Hitchcock movie marathon.

March 13 -Napping Day. Now the truth is, parents will probably enjoy this holiday more than the children, but what better way to celebrate than to say, “Nap time!”

March 14 – Pi Day. This holiday can be two-fold, first it’s a great way to introduce PI to your children. You know 3.14. Why PI day? March 14 represents the fact that 3.14 months, 14% of the days have passed. This is an approximation, but March 14 was a good day to call it PI day. Also, on PI day, have some pie.

March 16 – Absolutely Incredible Kid Day. Yep, you heard it right, time to celebrate an absolutely incredible kid, or kids. Celebrate your kids, cook their favorite meal, and tell them how wonderful they are.

March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day. Well, this day is a no-brainer. You celebrate by eating corned beef and cabbage and give the kids little kettles or bags of “chocolate” coins. The day is really in celebration of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but it’s also a fun holiday that celebrates some of the myths and legends of Ireland (such as a leprechaun.)

March 19 – Let’s Laugh Day. Ah, who can resist a day where laughter is celebrated? Go ahead, pull out the tickles and the comedies. Tell jokes, and make laughter number one.

March 20 – World Storytelling Day. Gather the kids and open a good book and read. Let older children read to younger children. Encourage children to make up stories and let them entertain you all day long.

March 21 – Common Courtesy Day. There’s always a lesson in this holiday. While we should be teaching children to practice this every day, make it a point to talk about the virtues of common courtesy. Gratitude is an attitude worth cultivating.

March 22 – International Goof Off Day. Children will enjoy this as will adults. Everyone enjoys goofing off every so often and now you have a true holiday to do just that!

March 23 – Puppy Day. Aw, puppies! If you have a dog, celebrate their puppyhood on this day. If you don’t, visit your local animal shelter and love on some young pooches.

March 24 – Chocolate Covered Raisins Day. Oh, this is one of my favorites! If you haven’t already, introduce your child to the delectable chocolate covered raisins and celebrate!

March 25 – Waffle Day. Unlike March 11, this Waffle Day encompasses any waffle. Take the family for waffles for breakfast, or break out the waffle iron and make some. Include yummy toppings like chocolate chips, peanut butter, and even fried chicken!

March 25 – Tolkien Reading Day. Maybe while you’re enjoying waffles, read a passage from The Hobbit. Tolkien was an iconic author of fantasy and every child should experience the man’s wonderful stories.

March 30 – Take a Walk in the Park Day. Now you have a great excuse to take the kids to the park and exercise!
