My daughter and I love trying new crafts. I was really excited to be introduced to Zirrly and their product Super Beads. Super Beads are the very same concept as your traditional fuse beads. The only difference between them is that you don’t use an iron, you use water and they fuse together. We picked out the Super Beads Jewelry Set to try for this review. The age requirements is 10 and up for this particular product. If you used with a younger child I would recommend a parent or an older child to help.
The Super Beads Jewelry Set comes with enough material to make 1 necklace, 1 bracelet, and 1 pair of earrings. You also get the design templates, Super Beads, Super Beads Work Tray, 1 Spray Bottle, 3 Boards, 1 Design Tool, and Instructions.
My daughter was so excited when our set arrived. She was squealing with excitement and she had to try them right away. She put her template under her work tray, it fit nice and snug so it wouldn’t move around. Then she started putting her beads in to match the pattern. The one thing that I found to be really cool was the fact that if you needed to take a bead out you simply used the design tool and it removed it easily. It didn’t disturb the other beads and you didn’t have a mess of bead to have to replace. It really was that simple and that easy. Once she was done we simply sprayed the Super Beads with water and let them fuse together. It said to let them sit for 30 minutes but we let ours sit over night.
If my daughter had to pick a favorite I think it was the earrings. She absolutely loves to wear earrings. She loves to have different ones to keep changing them. So I can see her making more earrings in the near future!
I am truly in awe at how flexible these Super Beads are. You could really make some interesting pieces of art with them. We had a little trouble with the bracelet as we had to fuse it a little more then the others. We may not have sprayed the ends very well when we did it the first time. To be able to make a bendable bracelet was pretty awesome! My daughter is going to surprise her friend with the bracelet. I think I am going to have to buy more Super Beads and Earring Pieces so that my daughter can make more in different colors. She was even thinking of a design she could make for her and her best friend. You really could get creative in the pieces you make.
I was looking at the other kits and I was thinking of my son who struggles with fine motor skills. I want him to put those skills to work and build one of these kits. I am considering purchasing the Super Beads 3D Car and Truck kit for him. I don’t think he would struggle as if he made a mistake he could use the design tool to fix and not have to worry about the beads flying out. I could see him having way more patience doing something like this, especially with the design tool.
