One Year In Review- Best Of She’s A Hot Mess

Have you heard the news? This little blog of mine is now officially a year old. I can not believe that time has gone as fast as it has. I won’t lie to you, there were times that I did not think I would make it. I often give up when things get tough, but I made a promise to stick it through, just one year. If nothing else, than to prove to myself that I could, in fact, stick to one project, and see it though. With that, I want to share with you the best of She’s A Hot Mess, a year in review of sorts.

My Favorite Post One Year Later

It seems to me that we are a lot alike. So much that the most shared and loved post from one year in review is “10 types of moms I want to punch in the face.” Its a comical look at the parents (mothers, usually) that you will meet at the school drop off and pick up. I thought I would get a lot of backlash and flack for writing this, essentially calling out the playground mom-mobs.

Turns out, I was wrong.

After one year in review, this post was shared so many times. It has received tons of comments and lots of pins! It still makes me smile and nod (as if I did not do the writing, lol) every time I read it. If you have not read this one yet, go now!

The Most Loved Creative Post, Statistically Speaking

According to Google, the most adored post from the last year in review is my solar light snowman, which I lovingly called You Solar Light Up My Life. I took some ordinary yard and house stuff, along with a super strand of solar twinkle lights and made the cutest solar snowman ever!!! Go ahead, read it now so you can make one when Christmas and the Holidays roll around!

Go ahead and be proud of your self. This light up snowman is so beautiful hanging in the house!

While doing this year in review, I also found that my succulent planter was a hit with you. I would have never thought that someone would take my post and turn it into a team-building exercise. but Cindy did just that. Feedback from you makes things like this more than worth it! Read that post here!

The Most Personal Post

The most personal post I have as of now (aside from my about me page~~> read that here) is my post dealing with anxiety. The post titled How To Deal With Anxiety When Your Mind Is A Hot Mess– tells some of the most personal parts of my journey with mental health. If you struggle with any sort of mental health, please do read it and reach out if necessary.

Companies I Look Forward To Working With, One Year In Review!

I love food. Can you tell? The problem is that I am a wannabe cook. That means that I am not always so great in the kitchen. Thankfully, Cave Tools has brought me a new found confidence and I am making some great headway learning. The one recipe that has been my go-to for any family event is my Hot Pepper Poppers. I no longer show up empty handed, because I can never go anywhere without the request to bring the heat! You need to check that out now if you have any plans for BBQ’s this summer.

Another most loved posts that I have found doing this year in review is my stuffed burgers. Cave Tools delivered again in the design of the press, and my recipe is a must if you like burgers and mushrooms.

A Year Of Shopping, Reviewed

It is so much fun to create lists for you based on what we love. My most loved shopping list one year later is my Uncommongoods post. If you have never heard of them, you are really missing the best handmade and unique gifting opportunities.  As the name implies, these finds are just that: Uncommon. The top item I would love is the long distance touch lamps. You can read about all of my favorite finds right here!

Of course, my birthday wishlist was the most fun to write. I have never created a list of wants, so to say, and doing so made me so hungry for crafting supplies! (I am a crafting hoarder, and my one year reviewed showed me that. I am not ashamed) If you are looking for the BEST gifting ideas possible, (and maybe a few for yourself) go to see my wishlist!

A Year In Review, Friendship Style

This year, I have made more friends than in my entire life. I created a small but growing group on Facebook for like-minded hot mess moms, I joined Twitter, and I connected with people whom I never would have had I not took this leap! At the 6 month mark, I wrote about my journey and thanked the other bloggers in my community of trusted confidants. If you are a blogger, I wrote this piece for you.

Along with other bloggers, I have also been exposed to some of the smartest people I believe to have ever met. Doing this year in review has really put that into perspective. This blog is a little creativity, a lot of research. Without the designers and scholars of this world,  I do not think I would have been able to produce any of the content that I have. My biggest thanks go out to those who are doing that every single day.

A Year Of Goals

I am a hot mess. Every day, I wake up with a plan. Every day, my focus is a little different. My goals were clear one year ago. To write consistently for one year. I achieved my goals. I have bigger and better plans for the year ahead, and I can not wait to share with you each new idea that comes to life.

The Year Ahead

I will not normally write down what I plan to do for an entire year. So many things can happen in that time that you just can not plan for. But I will say this: I plan to continue to be heard. I have so much more to say and do, I couldn’t stop if I wanted to. I have finally found my calling, my purpose. So, stay tuned.

If you are not already subscribed, nows the chance to do that. I just introduced the subscriber’s party goods resource library, where I am giving away goodies for your next themed party! Soon, there will be an option to upgrade to personalized party packages, and there are TONS of designs in the works.

Seriously, stop throwing boring parties. Your kids will thank you later.

So, now that you have seen my year in review, what would you like to see more of? Are you looking for a super specific party design that I can help you with? Maybe you are looking for your next project and you have an idea, but no idea how to execute it. Drop me a line, let’s chat, and take your party from idea to reality!

Talk to you soon!

Marlene
