Bennelong has a 3-course al carte Menu with sides of potatoes and salad for $130 or $100 for 2 courses (lunch only). Considering the surrounds and the quality of the food, it is quite reasonable.
The space that the restaurant occupies is amazing ,with views of the city and harbour. The high ceilings that form the shape of the sail make it feel very grand and the restaurant seems much larger than it is. As far as restaurant locations go, it doesn’t get any better than this.
In spite of the great views and service, I wasn’t blown away by the meal I had. Every dish was good but not amazing and the presentation at times needed some wow factor. The desserts , however were spectacular, Peter Gilmore’s eight textured chocolate cake (called Chocolate Cake from across the water on the menu) is something everyone should try at least once. The waiter adds the 8th texture by spooning hot chocolate sauce on top melting its way through the cake. Probably the best chocolate cake you will ever have. The crème caramel vs mille-feuille even after the high bar set by the chocolate cake is an impressive dessert too.
All that said I would still come back as I would like to try a few other dishes from the menu and the location makes it a perfect place to bring out of town visitors to.
