Mother’s Day @ Barbeque Nation

Barbeque Nation is a name everyone is quite familiar with. They brought the concept of unlimited grills to Bangalore and there has been no turning back since 2007.

I still recollect their first branch in Indira Nagar where I had my first meal at their restaurant with a few good friends and we ate for 3 hours! This was a few years ago and since then they have now have around 9 branches in Bangalore alone. In addition they also have their presence all across India.

Every table in this restaurant has a live-grill set up where pre-marinated and partly cooked non-veg and veg skewers are placed for customers to cook their food.

Since I have been a regular to some of their outlets I always look forward to their Shish Kebabs,Cajun Spiced Potatoes and the Grilled Prawns. In addition to their grilled starters, they also have a good buffet spread which includes soups, salads, main course dishes and desserts which are a mix of Mediterranean, Pan-Asian, American, Oriental, and Continental cuisine.
This particular visit was special as I was out with my mom for Mother’s Day and it was one of those rare Mother-daughter outings where it was just us and no kids or other family members.  Barbeque Nation hosted a special meal for honouring mothers as a gesture towards the efforts, support and love that mothers extend unconditionally for their children.  In other words, it was a day to treat my mom to a menu specially curated for her.
Our lunch began with an interesting mix of starters – Paneer Pudina Tikka, Shahi Kumbh Malai, Tandoori Saundah Tangdi Murgh , Fried corn, Grilled Prawns, Tandoori chicken and many more.
For main course, the buffet spread consisted of dishes such as Hyderabadi Kachhe Murgh ki Biryani, Bangalorean Fish Curry , Bade Miyaan ke Rolls at a live roll counter and a chat counter as well.
Our meal ended with some lovely desserts such as Truffle Pudding, Kiwi Pastry, Chocolate brownie, Mango Shrikhand and a delectable range of Kulfis at the restaurant’s Kulfi Nation counter.
The pleasant and always eager staff presented my mom with a small Mother’s day cake which was a wonderful gesture.
The lunch was not all about the food but it was an occasion for all sons and daughters of all ages to partake in the activities lined up for that particular day. A few of the activities included games like MOMpedia, exciting rounds of charades for mother-child pairs to compete and win. The event also had radio jockeys visiting with their moms and interacting with the guests about their experience. As a part of Mother’s Day celebrations, there was also an entertaining performance by the staff.
In this day and age when we barely find time for those simple get togethers I am glad that Barbeque Nation took pride in celebrating and appreciating our everyday heroes – Mothers!
