Indira Nagar especially 12th Main Road is chock-a-block with restaurants so its a pleasant surprise to find a little cafe of sorts filled to capacity with eager food lovers.
Though I have passed by this cafe many times in the last year, I have not had a chance to drop in and thanks to a food buddy of mine, I managed to drop in recently.
It was a weekday lunch time and though there is limited seating, it is wonderful to see many customers collect their food and sit together on the benches and enjoy their food.
Bean Flickers does not have an elaborate menu and stick to what they know best – Burgers, Subs, Coffees and Shakes. The pleasant and ever enthusiast owner was at the cafe that day and hence we had a lot of assistance in ordering our beverages and food.
BEVERAGES:
SHAKERATO:
Since I cannot have any milk in my drinks, this particular coffee was suggested by the owner. It is by far one of the best iced black coffees I have had. Just the right amount of bitterness and sugar.
CHOCOLATE SHAKE:
It is easy to make a chocolate shake but every place adds their touch by adding certain ingredients to make it special. No doubts the guys here take that extra special care as it was very good.
MEXICAN CHOCOLATE :
Another suggestion to try one of their specials turned out to be excellent. This is one of their special ice brew coffees which has a distinct flavour of cinnamon.
THAI ICED COFFEE:
A very different looking coffee arrived at our table and I am surprised to know that the bottom white layer was condensed milk. I could only taste a sip of it but that was enough to know its a must have here if you love your coffees.
BEAN FLICKERS SPECIAL FIZZ WITH CARAMEL:
By now I noticed that they have many specials and this is one of them. If you are in the mood for a fizzy drink with the flavour of caramel, coconut, irish and strawberry, then do give this a try.
MINT LEMON:
After a deluge of different coffees, I decided to get a Mint Lemon for myself. A very light and refreshing drink perfect to down with my food.
BURGERS :
FIERY PAN ASIAN VEG BURGER:
We had a few vegetarians in our group and hence this order. Interesting burger filled with flavours very different thanks to the sauces.
MUSHROOM MELT CHEESY BURGER:
I did not get a chance to try this burger. But my friend seemed to like it quite a bit and probably a good choice for the vegetarians.
SPICY SRIRACHA LAMB BURGER:
Very similar to the Pan Asian Veg burger but with a Lamb patty. A point to note is that all their patties are prepared in house hence the taste is very different from what you get in other places.
DOUBLE CHEESE LAMB AND BACON BURGER:
Luckily enough I got a chance to have quite a bit of this burger. I love bacon and here the bacon are not added as strips instead as batter fried smaller pieces. If you love meat and bacon combination, do give this a try!
SUBS:
CHICKEN SALAMI:
After all the orders of burgers, I decided to try one of their subs and settled for a Chicken Salami, a personal favourite. I am a huge Subway fan and till date I am yet to find a place which serves good subs in Bangalore other than Subway. Though I found the veggies overpowering the taste of the salami, you have the option to selecting what you want in your sub, something I did not attend to, hence the extra crunchiness in my sub. Definitely a good option for subs in Bangalore.
DESSERTS:
We were forewarned the desserts are in the form of subs!
CLASSIC CHOCOLATE PEEL:
A combination of banana and chocolate cream served in a sub. Definitely a very different dessert.
THE TENDER HAWAIIAN:
By now we knew what was in store for us and this dessert with its caramelized tender coconut strips was very good. The best dessert of the meal.
REDBERRY DELIGHT:
A choice made mainly due to the name turned out to be a little too sweet for my liking. But I do not have much of a sweet tooth so go for it if you love something sweet after your meal.
Bean Flickers also has some healthy options in the form of Quail Egg and Mushroom Subs and Detox juices. They have 3 types of detox juices made from Broccoli, Beetroot and Corn. Each of these are in turn mixed with some fresh fruit juices to make that special Detox juice. I did not get a chance to try these out and I am definitely returning for these.
All in all, a great place to check out in Indira Nagar especially for their burgers,subs and coffees.
