1.Loyalty Rewards Sites and Apps

I love loyalty rewards sites like Swagbucks because they pay you to do simple tasks like taking surveys, watching videos, or searching online. With Swagbucks, you’ll earn points for each task and you can redeem those points for gift cards or cash via PayPal.

The best part is that you can use the site or app during your spare time and from the comfort of your own home. Inbox Dollars is another site similar to Swagbucks that lets you earn points for completely short, light tasks.

If you’re interested in taking surveys, sites like Survey Junkie and Opinion Outpost are two of the best options. You can literally log on and take a survey when you’re on break, during your daily commute, or while you’re watching TV at home.

These sites won’t make you rich, but you will be able to earn some extra cash that can be used to supplement some of your expenses.

2. Drive For Uber Or Lyft

My husband has been driving for both Uber and Lyft on the side for the past two years and he loves it. It’s easy because all you need is a car, insurance, and a valid driver’s license. You can sign up easily on the app and start driving within days.

Uber and Lyft also pay weekly so the extra money can work into your budget nicely. Some people actually drive full time so you can drive as little or as often as you like.

My husband may drive a few nights per week or whenever we need extra money for something. His driving has allowed us to pay off his car loan super fast, fund vacations, cover an unexpected bill, and fund other expenses.

3. Walk Dogs and Pet Sit

This is another low-effort and flexible side hustle that you can do in your spare time. Having a love for animals is also a perk. Sites like Rover allow you to sign up as a pet sitter or dog walker and market your services in your community.

So many people travel during the summer and even throughout the year so there’s always a need for quality pet sitters.

As dog walker, you can walk dogs on weekends or before or after work. It’s easy money and you’d be getting a workout in too.

4. Rent Out Your Spare Room or Garage

Your spare room could be making you money if you’re not really using it. Consider furnishing it then renting it out on Airbnb.

You can choose your availability regarding which days you’d like to make the room available. You can also approve who you rent the room out to.

If you’re looking for a more permanent situation, see if you can rent the room out to a tenant or a college student.

You can even rent out other areas of your home like your garage or shed as storage space. Think about how many people pay hundreds or dollars per month for a storage unit. If you can store people items for extra cash, it could be a great passive way to make extra money.

5. Earn Cash Back and Gift Cards For Everyday Spending

If you’re spending money on regular household purchases and expenses anyway, you might as well earn some cash back. There are multiple ways to effortlessly earn cashback for your everyday spending.

You can use a cashback credit card so long as you don’t carry a balance. Discover offers generous amounts of cash back for spending in certain categories. The Citi Double cash back card gives you 1% unlimited cash back on all purchases and another 1% cash back once you pay those balances off.

If you don’t want to use credit cards, you can check out Ebates. Ebates pays you cashback to shop online with popular retailers like Walmart, Target, Amazon, Apple, Best Buy, and more.

There are literally hundreds of sites that partner with Ebates to offer cash back deals.

Ibotta is another option and it’s an app that pays you rebates for in-store purchases. I like to use this app when I shop for groceries. You start by scanning deals then redeem the offer you want.

Go shopping like normal but save your receipt so you can scan it in using the app. Once your receipt is verified, you’ll receive your cash back.

Summary

Making extra money doesn’t have to be hard, so try not to complicate it. If you only have a few minutes or an hour per day, consider these 5 low effort ways to make extra money on the side to help you get started.
