5 things to do in West London with your mates for under a tenner

West London is home to some of the most-visited attractions in the UK, but you don’t need to break the bank to have a great time there. Whether you’re visiting for the day or live locally, we’ve come up with five of the best things to do for under a tenner (or for free!)

1. Take in a free outdoor show at Bell Square in Hounslow.

Since the launch of this free outdoor arts and performance space in 2014, locals and visitors flock to see unique and exciting free shows throughout the year. With free performances every other Saturday and special events frequently put on in this permanent space, it’s become a must-see if you’re in the area.

2. Get your culture on with a museum double-whammy.

Divided only by the aptly named Museum Lane are the Natural History Museum and The Science Museum in South Kensington. Entrance to both museums is free (although some temporary exhibits may require tickets) and it’s no wonder that they both appeared in the top ten most visited free UK attractions last year, with combined total visitors of nearly 8 million people in 2016.

Get lost in the incredible world of all creatures great and small at the Natural History Museum, with everything from dinosaur skeletons to blue whales to see. Or, you can get totally interactive at The Science Museum across the street and explore everything from space travel to virtual reality worlds and get hands-on with the exhibits.

3. Grab yourselves a decadent treat at the Hummingbird Bakery in Notting Hill.

One of Portobello Road’s most popular sweet eateries since it opened in 2004, their fresh mini-cupcakes start at just £1.20, or you could opt for any of their other delicious cakes, pies and desserts. There’s something for every type of sweet tooth here!

4. Channel your inner David Dickinson at Portobello Road market.

You can hunt for antiques, sample street food from around the globe, stock up on amazing spices, incredible specialty foods and watch out for some unique street performances too. It’s free to browse, but we expect you’ll want to try out some delicious food at the very least.

5. Try out Foot Golf in Chiswick.

A hybrid of golf and football, it’s a surprisingly tricky game of skill, power and accuracy. With the aim being to get your ball around the course in the fewest number of shots, and penalty shots given for landing in hazards, it’s definitely more like golf than football. Some people even dress up in the full argyle golf gear from head to toe, but this thankfully isn’t compulsory!

Team up with your mates for 9 holes of fun for just £8 per person.

With so much to see and do in West London all year round, you can have an amazing time with your mates, even when the budget is tight. If you’ve got any favourite cheap, or free, places to visit or activities to do, let us know on Facebook or Twitter.
