H&M Conscious Exclusive Collection For A Sustainable Fashion Future

Have you ever given it a thought as to where your outfits come from? Clothing is a basic need for humans but somewhere along the line the fast Fashion culture has started to have some serious consequences for the population and the planet. Sustainable fashion is the way to get us out of this problem, it becomes the solution to how the clothes make you feel along with our environment. The fashion industry is the second-largest pollutant in the world and consumers are becoming more socially conscious. Fashion designers and brands have started incorporating fair-trade practices, recycling, up-cycling and collaborating with various craftsmen for spinning yarns into designs. Amazon Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2017 began with this note by addressing the Handloom with 9 designers showing their support for handloom weavers. This year at fashion week we came across H&M’s new conscious exclusive collection and got to know how it is completely dedicated to sustainable fashion.

BIONIC – a recycled polyester made from plastic shoreline waste. This new fabric has been used to create an intricate powder pink pleated gown and in their campaign it has been modelled by new face of the collection Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova, to show off the versatility of the recycled material.

I am proud to appear in the H&M Conscious Exclusive campaign. It’s amazing to see the advances in sustainable fabrics that are used in the collection, pointing towards a more sustainable future for all fashion.

Along with a full collection for women, the collection will for the first time include kid’s pieces. They entire collection will be available in around 160 stores worldwide and in India at Select City Walk, New Delhi and High Street Phoenix, Mumbai from April 20.

H&M’s move towards a more sustainable fashion future also includes the H&M garment collecting initiative. Every year so many clothes and textiles end up in the landfills but almost 95% could be used again. This initiative called ‘Bring it on’ has been created to decrease the waste and close the fashion loop. H&M want you to give them all your old textiles, from any brand, in any condition, they will reuse and recycle them giving them a new life. You can drop of all your unwanted clothes and home textiles to your closest H&M store. H&M’s ambition is to make sustainable, good-quality fashion accessible to as many people as possible.
