Review: Himalaya Herbal Anti Dandruff Hair Oil

Monsoons are a bad time for me. My skin breaks out. Which is pretty common, I’ve heard, owing to the high humidity and heat. But what really bothers me is that my scalp breaks out. My Hair gets oily within a day of washing and the dandruff is irritating. As it is I have thin hair, albeit soft. But the rainy season is annoying AF for me.

So, when I was given a chance to try out the anti  dandruff kit by Himalaya I jumped at it. Although I have been told that oiling your hair can increase the dandruff problem, the Tea Tree Oil is actually a boon for scalp irritations. So, i decided to give this a go. I apply it a few hours before washing my hair.

About the product

Price: Rs 90

Size: 100 ml

Ingredients: Rosemary, Tea Tree, Neem, Hyamaraka (Sweet Indrajao)

Pros

  1. Thin and light, and easily spreads through your hair and scalp.
  2. Reduces itchiness as soon as you apply it.
  3. Value for money. At Rs 100, the oil is worth the cost as you need to use very little of it for using it once or twice a week.
  4. Washes off easily in one wash.
  5. Does not feel heavy on the scalp and does not weigh down the hair either.
  6. It will remove dryness for those who have this issue.
  7. I have been using this for a few weeks now, and although the oiliness of my scalp hasn’t reduced too much, the dandruff has definitely reduced, without drying my hair completely. (I use it along with the shampoo and conditioner for Anti Dandruff by Himalaya Herbals. Review out soon)

Cons

  1. It has a strong smell, but it fades away in about half an hour.
  2. The tea tree oil may irritate some people.
  3. It led to my skin breaking out, the one time I left the oil in my head overnight. So I would suggest not to make that mistake.
