5th Annual Westport Summer Beer Feast – June 13th:
The festival will feature over 35 American craft and International breweries and over 80 beers. The beer styles are geared toward refreshing Summer quenchers including but not limited to Saison, Lagers, Wheats, Sours, Spring and Summer Seasonals, in addition to a commemorative tasting glass. Food will be provided for purchase by Beer KC.

It’s our own country within a country – that just happens to be in Kansas City. You won’t need a passport, but prepare to be transported. Boulevardia is a unique beer, food and music festival. A very happy happening. A whole lotta hubbub. A delightful departure from the everyday. And it’s all going down in KC’s 12th Street Bridge Historic District in the West Bottoms from June 19-21.

Great Lenexa BBQ Battle – June 25th & 26th:
The Great Lenexa BBQ Battle started in 1982 with 12 contestants and 12 judges. On April 27, 1984, Governor John Carlin declared the contest the official Kansas State Championship. Since then, the contest has grown to its current size of 185 contestants and 240 judges. The two-day event, which includes children’s activities and live music, attracts cooks from all over the country, who compete for the coveted title of Grand Champion of the Great Lenexa BBQ Battle – The Kansas State Championship. Prizes and ribbons are awarded to the top 10 contestants in seven categories and the top three overall winners.

Celebrate National Parks and Recreation month as KC Parks partners with the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art to host the biggest picnic the region has ever seen! The Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park and Theis Park will be linked to become a giant space for Kansas City to come together for an evening of fun. Pack your own picnic or grab dinner from an on-site food truck! Rain or shine; no grills, no stakes, no tenting.

Kosher BBQ Festival – August 16th:
The goal of the competition beyond creating a time and space where people can come together is to educate the Kansas City community about the meaning and deeper significance of “kosher,” the Jewish dietary standards that go beyond simply proscribing certain foods or separating milk from meat. The event will include literature, booths, and perhaps demonstrations to facilitate the conversation on what it means to keep kosher. Meanwhile, proceeds will help make kosher supervision more widely available to the community, by enabling the Vaad of Kashrut to defray many of its costs.
