The Return of the Ballet Pump (despite never having really gone away)

When Karl Lagerfeld put on his epic ‘Chanel Shopping Centre’ fashion show way back in 2014, the status of the high fashion sneaker was elevated and cemented in fashion history. There was no doubt that sneakers were having a moment pre Lagerfeld but suddenly, with Karl’s influence, they became the darlings of fashion and their more understated cousins pushed to the back of many a fashionable wardrobe.

Or were they? Let’s be honest now. Although the highest of the fashion world may have disregarded the trend for Ballet pumps, they have remained a classic wardrobe staple, our closest and most trusted confidant, for the very reason that they can be worn with (almost) anything and make you look and feel great. From Kate Moss to Kate Middleton, ballet pumps have surfed out the waves and have continued to be an essential wardrobe staple of the modern, working woman, offering versatility in the form of understated elegance to insouciant cool, depending on how you fashion them.

Following a number of years post its high fashion spotlight, 2017 is finally seeing the ballet flat’s resurgence and we couldn’t be more excited. Indeed, design houses such as Chanel have re-worked their signature ballerina and Miu Miu to Celine have indulged in launching their contemporary versions of the wardrobe staple – and so have we.

Our new Bloomsbury style puts a spin on the classic ballerina. With its high vamp and soft leather, the new ballet pump ensures maximum comfort whilst providing the ultimate style cred. From fabulous florals to pink-perfect pastels and canary yellow colour-pop, our Bloomsbury ballerinas offer the perfect summer seduction.

For die-hard fans (of which there are many), the continuous appeal of the ballet pump is its offer of comfort coupled with understated style, whether on or off duty.

It’s no wonder then, that the ballet pump is back (having never really gone away). Providing effortless glamour, ballerinas are the ultimate wardrobe staple and the go-to footwear for the majority of occasions. From classic to contemporary silhouettes, with bows, laces, applique detailing and embellishment or without, and available in all shades of colours, leathers and materials, the ballet pump’s richness has dramatically evolved over the years but is still as simple as slip on & go – making our busy lives that little bit easier every day.

This year celebrates Cocorose London’s 10th anniversary and our desire to accommodate a hectic, 21st century lifestyle for women remains unwavering. Having originally started as a foldable ballerina brand, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than bringing back our signature style.

We do believe in ballet pumps, we do, we do!
